Improve Blood Pressure With Nutrition - Got Chocolate?

How to improve blood pressure with nutrition is a great thing to learn. Before you feel out of breath or dizzy when you get up suddenly or exercise, while life is good, add the foods that your body needs to keep flexibility in the arteries. And good news for chocolate lovers, cocoa is good for this. Cocoa has the nutrients to:

activate the cells of your artery walls to produce nitrous oxide (NO) which causes your artery walls to relax, normalizing blood pressure

Eat the dark chocolate with less fat - and the semi-sweet kind. This is truly healthy!

More Ways To Produce NO

L-arginine. This is one of the amino acids and it also helps the body produce NO. Foods you can eat that will add this ingredient to your diet are walnuts, peanuts, and organic dairy.

Vitamin C and Vitamin E Are Preservatives

These vitamins keep nutritional elements fresh, both in and out of our bodies. Once NO has been created, it will be effective longer and keep doing its good work in our arteries if you are not C and E deficient. Add the following to your snacks and meals as much as you can:

dark green leafy vegetables (swiss chard, kale, other dark salad greens) broccoli tomatoes almonds and sunflower seeds citrus fruits

If you cannot keep up the good foods every day, have some natural supplements handy at home to grab, to take up the slack. Be sure to read labels when you buy vitamins. The cheapest ones often have added sugars, grains and yeasts, and fillers with names you cannot pronounce. Vitamin C pills should include bioflavanoids - not just ascorbic acid. Rose hips and acerola are often sources of vitamin C that you will see on labels.

Vitamin E should read D - tocopherol, not DL - tocopherol. D is natural, DL is synthetic. The logo of the Natural Source Vitamin E Association (NSVEA) will be on the label of a natural Vitamin E. While the synthetic vitamin E is much cheaper, it is a fake form and the natural form stays and works in the body much longer.

Exercise!

Exercise improves circulation, helps detoxify waste products, and also contributes to the presence of NO in your system. An interval type of low duration and high intensity exercise that exhausts your fast twitch muscle fibers is best. This kind of workout builds muscle, boosts your metabolism, and helps you stay thinner as you age.

Exercise also keeps your balance, and reflexes. One of the reasons older people have devastating falls is due to loss of reflexes, and loss of muscle strength. Such a sad waste when this can be prevented. We can't all be Jack LeLane, but we can certainly aim for our longest and most productive and enjoyable life!

If you are really out of shape and have high blood pressure, get a plan. Your health practitioner may advise you to begin by taking walks or swimming. Or starting a workout and simply building it in intensity as you are able.

You can only start where you are! Your only mistake would be to do nothing. The heart is a muscle, and with nutrition it will repair and regain strength as easily as any other neglected muscle that is not terribly damaged.

I hope this will help you understand how to improve blood pressure and get you started on a healthier life.

A very good news for chocolate lovers!!!

As a chocoholic, it is good to see articles about the health aspects. While not all chocolate is equally good for us and certainly anything eaten in excess is bad, it is important that we realize there are healthy choices out there.

Chocolate and exercise. Sounds like a diet for everyone... but on a serious note, I know dark chocolate can contribute to weight loss. I personally eat a small square every night after dinner. It will help ease the sweet tooth after a salty meal (like many dinners) and as you stated, it is full of healthy benefits like anti-oxidants. Dark chocolate should be your only option though as eating a chocolate bar or a big chunk of milk chocolate will only lead to adverse health benefits and weight gain.
