Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter Review

I have finally had enough of drinking poison and thought what better way to clean up my water supply than to start filtering everything I drink. I did quite a bit of research on this subject and while every house in my opinion should have some sort of filtering system for all of its water consumption and useage, this product really stood out above all the others so I thought I would do a Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter Review.

What is it?

This nifty little unit is a portable water filtering system you can take with you everywhere you go. All you need is a water supply, and this could even be a stream, river or lake, to create clean healthy drinking water! Perfect for everyone really, but especially the traveler and for places in this world where there just is not any clean water available.

What is wrong with tap water?

Today's tap water is getting less and less healthy and in some places just is not fit for drinking! Lets take a look at some interesting facts on tap water:

  • Tap water can be loaded with Toxic heavy metals
  • Volatile organic chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides can be in tap water.
  • Chlorine is added to tap water
  • Floride is added to tap water, which is actually poison!
  • Bottled water for the most part is just tap water in many cases!

Do you still want to drink this stuff? This is only a very partial list of what kinds of unhealthy poisons you find in tap water. Depending on the area, it can get downright toxic.

Can't I buy Bottled Water?

Yes, you can buy bottled water, but in many places all you are getting is water that is bottled out of the municipal wells, which is yes, you guessed it,. tap water. Feel kind of silly buying something you can go in any public restroom and get for free? Me too! I have sworn off buying this unless there is no other option, but with this portable unit, there will always be an option for clean, pure water!

I am convinced every person should have their own personal portable water filter system, and I for one am getting one as soon as possible. Considering the body is made up mostly of water, I think I need to be putting the cleanest water possible in it, and you should be doing the same thing!

Look for a series of articles coming soon on the different kinds of water purification systems available on the market today.

Shawn, I find this really interesting. I buy bottled water by the caseload. Didn't know it was tap. Our tap water is extremely hard and tastes terrible so we waste money on better tasting tap "spring" water in bottles. Thanks for the info.

LOL, yes, in most cases. There are good bottling companies out there, but hard to find.

Very handy dandy little device for when you're out on foot and need a refill. I'm pretty sure tap water is about as healthy as drinking of the toilet so I avoid that at all cost!

Not all water filtering systems are created equal, so it is worth researching the subject first as Shawn has done. This will make sure that you get the one most suited to your needs and budget.

I have a large concrete tank and only rely on rain water which hardly ever seems to run out. The same is when we are cruising and catch rain water to fill the tanks.
