Have you ever wondered if there was a good home remedy for dandruff? In today's world, there are several truths that are unavoidable. One such truth is that convenience has taken precedence everything else. We are constantly in need of being somewhere that we are not because we are just so darn busy all the time. The affect that this has had on our health and well being is, to say the least, less than desirable. We have epidemics of society driven maladies such as high blood pressure, obesity, and what I would like to touch on today, which is dry skin. More specifically I would like to talk about dry scalp and possible natural remedies for dandruff.
The Offered Solutions
If you go to your local grocery store, or maybe even your favorite health store, you will be sure to find a plethora of shampoos that will claim to relieve dandruff. Many of these will work spectacularly, but at what cost? There are sure to be natural remedies for dandruff that would work just as well right? Might there be a home remedy for dandruff that would be just as effective and hopefully have a lower price tag? I will get back to this point in a moment.
Is Convenience Healthy?
So you are at the health store looking at the dandruff shampoo selection. It's possible that the store is even labeling some of these as natural remedies for dandruff. What do you see? We've already noted that these shampoos are almost all more expensive than your other, run of the mill shampoos. This is especially true if you've been referred here by your family physician who will certainly have told you to select one of the more powerful, and thus more medicated products. What else do you see? How about in your ingredient lists?
The ingredients in these shampoos are where you may want to think twice, assuming you can afford the product. When compared with natural remedies for dandruff, these ingredient lists seem to be almost laughable in as much as they sound more harmful than helpful. On any given bottle you may see the likes of salicylic acid, sulfur, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, zinc pyrithione, and if you are looking at a shampoo that is labeled as a more natural product, it will probably have coal tar as its main active ingredient. I don't know about you, but I would rather not put something on my body that sounds like it was mixed and matched from the periodic table of the elements in a chemistry lab.
Home Remedy For Dandruff
Coal tar is probably where natural remedies for dandruff got its start, but I would like to propose an even more natural, and ultimately better home remedy for dandruff. Extra virgin coconut oil is, without a doubt, my go to product for anything that has to do with dry skin these days. I have had a dandruff problem on and off for my whole life, I have probably used every over the counter product, and even a few prescription shampoos, that is available today. Some of them worked pretty well, but the dandruff always came back.
Extra virgin coconut oil is absolutely the best home remedy for dandruff that is available. I would go so far as to say that it is the best way to rid yourself of dandruff period, because I have not used an over the counter product that works this well. Natural remedies for dandruff have been around for centuries, the reason we don't so much know about them is because, for example, native islanders who are constantly using coconut products for everything, including skin and hair care, don't develop dandruff to begin with.
The Long Term Solution
The beauty of using coconut oil as you home remedy for dandruff is that it won't be an on again off again issue. I guarantee that once you see what your skin and hair feel like after a few days of using the oil, you won't want to stop using it, even after the dandruff is long gone. Extra virgin coconut oil will become your preventative home remedy for dandruff. As far as natural remedies for dandruff go, coconut oil is without a doubt at the top of my list.
