Questioning if there are any probiotics adverse effects should be a concern for anyone who is wanting to add a supplement to their daily diet. Our bodies were created with everything we need already built in. However, sometimes for whatever reason our bodies need a little help.
Adding probiotics is a very simple process and can be done by adding certain foods to our diet or by taking a supplement. You don't have to, but it is recommended to maintain the same daily intake both in the amount of probiotics you take and how they are consumed. If supplements are chosen, you can choose from a pill form, a liquid or a powder.
It is interesting that our bodies are designed the same but yet each one of us are unique. Our bodies will react a little differently to different things. For example, some may find a medium flavored salsa too mild for their pallet while others feel that it is simply too much heat.
This difference is the same with many different things like with supplements. Supplements are created based on the average individual. Most of us will tolerate the amount that the manufacturer provides in each serving. However, there may be a few that the dosage is not enough or it's too much for. This is the same with probiotics. If probiotics adverse effects do occur, the effects should be noticed within the first day or two of the first dosage.
Since the rediscovery of probiotics in the 1970's, there have been a number of studies to determine the overall effects of probiotics and their effectiveness in the body. Essentially, they are good bacteria that fight the bad bacteria and work to keep the body healthy. there are a number of varieties and each one does something a little different.
Each dosage consists of a certain amount in the millions or billions per colony-forming unit. Although bacteria is microscopic, millions and billions is still a rather large number. Adding this amount to your body has been shown to be acceptable and beneficial to people who need this beneficial bacteria.
Studies have been done to find the probiotics adverse effects and benefits of the:
• Gastrointestinal (GI) tract
• Diarrhea induced by antibiotics
• Acute diarrhea
• Urogenital issues
• Vaginal issues
• Urinary tract infections
• Allergies/immune system
• Intolerance to lactose
• Cholesterol levels
• Reproductive hormones/system
• Cancer
These are just some medical issues/conditions that have been researched. Some of them have been reviewed in depth while others have not. Some research has been inclusive due to circumstances changing during or after the results of the research was done. The overall verdict of any probiotics adverse effects? There are very few and the effects are slight. In addition, the results varied depending upon the strain that was researched.
The results were overall positive in the fact that either there were no documented issues or the effects were beneficial and therefore worthy of using. The negative reactions typically occurred with individuals who have immune systems or GI tracts that are badly damaged. In conclusion, any probiotics adverse effects that may be experienced by the average person would be extremely rare.
