Raw Food And Health

In my previous article I explained the dangers of meat and dairy, however in this article I will be going in to how a plant based diet and improve your quality of life. By going from a high processed foods diet to a plant based diet you help your body a great deal. As previously mentioned I wrote about animal proteins and how they are a big cause of many cancers and are the top causes of heart disease and heart attacks. However a plant based diet can reduce and even reverse cancers and plaque build up in the blood vessels.

Why is eating raw food so difficult and expensive?

Many of your maybe arguing that eating a plant based diet is "too expensive" or "less tasteful" than a processed foods diet. This is because large corporations have made it that high fructose corn syrup made from (you guessed it) corn so cheap that incidentally makes processed foods so cheap. Did you know we could feed the whole world at least twice over with the amount of corn we produce? Crazy to think people are still going hungry in the world. Because of the high fructose corn syrup being put into so many processed foods that the foods we eat today are far more richer tasting. And we are super concentrating fats and sugars to end up with foods that are calorie rich and nutrient poor.

Why do I put on weight?

The reason for so many people putting on weight in today's society is that we are fooling our stomach into eating more food than we actually need. In our stomach we have sensors that tell our brain that we are full and the amount of fiber in our stomach is what determines how full we are. For a normal stomach full of plant based foods is roughly 500 calories, but when we eat meats and processed foods with little or no fiber content it doesn't fill us up as much so we end up eating way more than 500 calories, then consequentially our body stores the extra calories as fat.

What is happening to my body?

Our blood vessels are lined with cells called endothelial cells which manufactures nitric oxide which does many things such as, helping keep the blood flowing smoothly, help to dilate the vessels during exercise and inhibits plaque formation and inflammation. When we eat processed foods it damages cells and loses it's ability to keep the plaque away which gradually builds up and causes problems. However all is not lost this CAN be reversed by switching to a raw plant based diet.

The secret to being healthy isn't more medications or "wonder drugs". It's the food that we've had around forever. Eat your greens and adopt a raw food diet and "let food be thy medicine" (Hippocrates).
