Smoothies For Health – Some Things I’ve Learned

I have been making and consuming smoothies for many months now, almost a year. The health benefits have been very noticeable.

Almost immediately, I noticed my energy and stamina improve. I like to run and smoothies alone helped improve my performance. Without changing my training in any way other than consuming smoothies, both my speed and endurance were much improved.

I told this to my uncle, who eats highly processed foods, along with tons of soda and coffee daily and he told me, “It’s all in your head.” Believe me: it’s not in my head. If you increase the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables you include in diet, your health will improve…period.

Another amazing benefit was the weight loss. I changed very little about my diet, but the weight just melted off. I now weigh what I did in high school (I’m 38). I have more energy than I did back then also, and I was a sports nut.

The energy I experience throughout the day is amazing. I have never felt anything like it. There are many days where I jump out of bed very early (5-6am) and don’t hit the sack until 10 or 11pm. I have never been anything close to a morning person. Getting up before 9am has always been really hard.

There is very little lag anymore. I get up and am at full tilt within minutes. Sometimes I still drink a cup of coffee, but it is consumed more for enjoyment rather than effect. Many days in the past, coffee was required in the morning and in the afternoon to keep going. I never consume coffee or any other form of caffeine after 8am anymore.

My elimination is much better. There is no longer a need to use laxatives. My appearance has changed. People often tell me that I look many years younger. My outlook has changed. I am no longer grumpy. That is one of main benefits for me. I used to think everything stunk. Life in general was a negative experience I thought. When you feel good, your view on life changes quickly.

I would like to think that all of the above benefits were attained by drinking smoothies (blueberry smoothies are my favorite), although I can’t. When you feel the health benefits from drinking smoothies, you take on a renewed interest in health. Everything snowballs from there. Life becomes an amazing journey and it all can start with something as simple as a blueberry smoothie. Here’s to your health.

I couldn't agree more! Your uncle is dangerously wrong. I used smoothies, or more to the point, a nutritional meal replacement smoothie for a week to detox myself. The first couple of days I was left feeling hungry, but by the 3rd day, I was starting to feel energized. I drink my meal replacement with added fruits (raspberries are my favorite) every day for breakfast or lunch, and I haven't looked back or regretted it one little bit.
