The Benefits Of Eating Broccoli

Broccoli is a superfood and a powerful one. The benefits of eating broccoli are numerous and the benefits of raw broccoli even more so. Raw broccoli and greens supplements that contain it are ideal for daily usage to increase overall health, build the immune system, prevent disease and to obtain natural-energy. Whether you eat broccoli raw, organic without pesticides, cooked or powdered in a drink, take advantage of the nutritional value of this superfood.

Broccoli is one of the superfoods that contain phytonutrients. (Phytonutrients are powerful plant-based nutrients that support health and prevent disease). It is also high in vitamin C and other important nutrients needed daily for healthy living. Broccoli along with other water-rich, leafy vegetables, fruits and particularly tomatoes are possibly good in helping prevent several diseases and reducing overall risk for cancer (particularly in men).

Broccoli is Loaded with Antioxidants

The phytonutrients, phytochemicals, Vitamin C and other vitamins in broccoli (particularly if raw, uncooked, organic and pesticide-free) are an important source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that prevent free radical oxidation to the cells. Think of rust on a shovel. This is from oxidation. The same thing happens to cells that causes aging and disease. Antioxidants are necessary for proper cell health, improving cell walls and overall cell function. An antioxidant-rich diet is one of the key’s to good health. If you find it difficult to ingest broccoli and other superfood fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, you might want to consider taking a high-quality superfood drink formula.

Broccoli and Prostate Cancer Link

Some studies suggest that phytochemicals in broccoli and tomatoes in particular, are useful in reducing the risk of prostate tumors and cancers in men later in life.

In Food Synergy (Rodale, 2008) the author quotes studies on rats. Rats fed food powders rich in phytonutrients taken directly from broccoli and tomatoes showed a noticeable reduction in the growth rate of various cancerous tumors. Men should strongly consider regular intake of broccoli, dark leafy greens, tomatoes and similar vegetables and fruits.

Ok. People aren’t rats. But regardless of this particular study broccoli has been linked to lowered risk of many types of disease in dozens of other studies as well. And most likely, many studies to come.

Does Broccoli Reduce High Blood Pressure and Heart Disease Risk?

Studies have shown that fruits and vegetables rich in phytochemicals, phytonutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants help regulate blood pressure naturally. With a regulated blood pressure, a diet rich in foods that help lower bad cholesterol levels, have generally benefited individuals at risk of developing a variety of heart diseases including chronic cardiac situations and deterioration of the of the cardiovascular system.

A regular diet incorporating raw vegetables as well as whole-food supplements that contain raw fruits and vegetables such as superfood drinks, does offer the possibility of reducing high blood pressure and improving overall health. Perhaps most importantly, the superfood broccoli seems to reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men, prostate tumor growth, possible reductions in the risk of other cancers and various heart or cardiac diseases.

Be sure to add the appropriate levels of organic greens, broccoli, tomatoes, whole-food superfood drink supplements to guarantee that you get the needed daily amounts of phytonutrients and phytochemicals to help improve overall health, and possibly reduce the risk of prostate cancer, other cancers, high blood pressure, and reduce the risk of cardiac diseases.
