The Caveman Diet

Everyone hates dieting and with good reason. Just the idea of it means changing your normal routine of eating, the things you love, and substituting them for things you hate. But what if there was a way to change to a healthy way of eating that had you looking forward to your next meal? What if it took less will power then you originally thought?

The problem with fad diets is they are often bland and repetitive. They don't offer the variety that people naturally desire. The grapefruit diet or cabbage diets are excellent examples. There simply is no way you could live on them for the rest of your life.

You may have heard of the caveman diet and dismissed it as just another one of those fad diets. The truth is, it offers a surprisingly wide variety of meals to choose from if you take a close look at what you can eat and sill lose weight. For example, would you believe me if I told you that you can eat all of these delicious options on a caveman diet?

  • A three egg dark chocolate omelet with the yokes left in and fried in clarified butter
  • Pork chops with apple sauce and a side of roasted tomatoes
  • Wild salmon with Cajun spices and honey glazed bites of yam.

The beauty of the caveman diet is it's unconventional recommendation for high levels of protein intake and moderate restriction on the inclusion of fat within the diet. It's a beautiful thing because that means you can prepare food that's good for you while keeping the taste that fat gives to the food. Based upon exhaustive research by scientists like Dr. Loren Cordian, author of the book The Paleo Diet, we should be eating a greater amount of lean animal proteins then is recommended by traditional diets and even by FDA recommendations.

A key part of the caveman diet is the elimination of food high in sugar, wheat, legumes, cereals and dairy products. This list of foods are the main offenders, when it comes to the cause for obesity, as an increasing numbers of studies have shown.

As with with everything in life, moderation is the key. So it's still not a good idea to load up on red meat that contains high amounts of saturated fat. Especially if the red meat is grain fed rather then grass fed. The reasons for this are documented by Dr. Cordian and other specialists who study the field of evolutionary medicine. You can however, stop feeling guilty about having things like a nice T-bone steak once a week in your meal plan. The rest of the week get creative with the number of ways you can prepare seafood, chicken and other foul. There are literally hundreds of delicious options.

The good news for those of us, who are not scientists, is that the caveman diet doesn't have to be redundant and boring. There are numerous Paleo cookbooks with literally hundreds of recipes that will have you thinking you're not on a diet at all. I've been on the caveman diet for weeks and I love it. I'm never going back to the junk food I used to put into my body. Let me show you how a fifty year old out of shape guy is turning into a lean, mean, machine using the caveman diet. I know you can do it too.
