Using Nutrition to Stay on Top Of Your Fitness Goals

No matter who you are, man or woman, old or young, there is a reason why you are reading this health and fitness blog column. No matter your level of experience or even which walk of life you come from, when fitness is your goal, you need to stay on top of the latest news, reviews and trends.


Over the course of the coming weeks, months and years we are going to look at all aspects of good nutrition right from the basics. Without good food we are nothing. Eating healthily can be difficult in today's current fast food society, however it is when we are rushing about expending energy that we need to intake the right foods, vitamins and minerals to power our bodies.

We will find out just how to make quick and nutritious meals with super foods and ingredients which boost energy levels, metabolism and muscle building strength. We aim to be one of the best health and fitness blogs on the net. Therefore from the outset the column will be crammed full of advice and tips on how to both feel and look your best.

Bear in mind that the body and indeed the mind cannot maintain themselves in any fit state without optimum nutrition. This is why we must educate ourselves with regards to our needs and indeed the needs of those around us. It is only when we get this knowledge that we can apply it practically with regards to the foods we put on our shopping list.

So basically the whole message here is that good food, combined with exercise and of course hydration is the way in which the body can reach peak fitness. It is with this message in mind that I hope you will enjoy this series of health and fitness blogs and that together we can help you reach optimum fitness.


Eating healthily is a subject which should be taught to kids from primary school age in our opinion. In school you get taught how to count, to throw a ball and to write a story however the most basic need of the body with regards to health is nutrition - it just doesn't make sense! Both caloric and nutritional knowledge is just as important as knowing how to do lunges and press ups.

Some basics to remember:

· Always eat breakfast as skipping it makes you eat far more and far higher calorie food than usual throughout the day

· Eat healthy snacks like carrot sticks and nuts between meals

· Beware of portion size - plates nowadays are huge and you don't need to fill them!

· Watch your intake of fizzy drinks and shop bought coffees which can be laden with as many empty calories as a large fast food hamburger

· Eat foods whole, raw if you can from time to time and say no to processed convenience muck!

In short, good food, combined with exercise and of course hydration is the way in which the body can reach peak fitness. It is with this message in mind that I hope you will enjoy this series of health and fitness blogs and that together we can help you reach and maintain optimum fitness.
