Vitamin B  -  Cure to the 3 O\'clock Lull

It is by no means uncommon to feel a little low or lethargic at some point throughout the day. Many just accept this 3 o’clock lull; however it may be nutritional gaps in one’s diet which is resulting in this lack of energy. It is widely accepted that B-vitamins are responsible for this. However, this does not mean you should go about consuming as many B-Vitamins you can get your hands on. Because this particular vitamin is water soluble, so if you binge, you will simply urinate out the surplus you have ingested – the body can only hold so much. Vitamin B is not something which can be held in the body; therefore it is paramount that it is obtained through what we eat, or through supplementing.

Traditionally, the B vitamin was through of as a single unit. However, it has since been proven that they are in fact 8 chemically varied B vitamins which play a pivotal part in cell division, maintaining energy and metabolism. B 12 is the most structurally intricate of the B Vitamins, with the elderly and vegetarians at a higher risk of B12 insufficiency. Smoking also results in a deficiency, and heavy smokers need a much higher intake in order to operate.

Common symptoms of Vitamin B deficiency include, fatigue and an overall lock of motivation and energy. Those who eat highly processed foods at a greater risk of developing such a deficiency. For example white bread, luncheon meats, and frankfurter sausages. Meats with high vitamin B content include turkey and tuna, seafood, and bananas. However, in their busy lifestyles, people may struggle to get the recommended daily intake of these complex vitamins. This is why many will need to supplement their diets, in order to stay energized and on the ball throughout the day. While some may choose energy drinks to boost energy levels, it is a lot healthier to take a dietary supplement.

Energy drinks are laden with an excess of sugar, and are very high in calories. We all live busy lives, and it is incredibly hard to establish a well-rounded diet. Because of this, supplementing with vitamin b tablets can be very beneficial. Being conscious of b-vitamins is defiantly worth it. Steering clear of highly processed meats, instead indulging in lean red meats will not only boost vitamin B levels, but it is proven to prevent stomach and colon cancers. While you do not have to be too pedantic about your vitamin intake, a little bit of awareness and planning can go a long way in improving your overall sense of well being.
