In article #10 I am going to continue to index vitamins, minerals and supplements along with some common health issues. These articles are for information only. What is nickell good for? It is necessary for general proper body function. There is no need for supplement.

Many people have night blindness when driving. Prevention says that Vitamin A and Zinc will help. You will have to research dosage guidance and talk with your doctor.

Vitamin C is a natural laxative.

Vitamin B5, B-complex, Phosphorus, and Calcium are good for the nerves.

At one point Prevention had an article on basic nutritional guidelines. I thought it interesting enough to copy so I will pass it on. Again, I think that if you follow the basic food groups daily or rather the food pyramid then you will get

these nutrients. You put yourself at risk for problems by not consulting with your doctor first.Vitamin C 1,000 mg or more daily depending on each circumstance. Vitamin B-Complex 50 mg of each B plus 400 mcg of folate and 50 mcg of Vitamin B12. Calcium 500-1000mg daily depending on intake of dairy foods. Magnesium 300-500mg daily. Trace minerals especially selenium, chromium and zinc. Vitamin a 10,000-20,000 units daily. Vitamin D 500 units. Intake depends on sun exposure. The more sun you get the less Vitamin D you need. And, Vitamin E 400 units, daily.

If you have osteoporosis then you probably need Zinc and Calcium

Panathenaic Acid or Vitamin B5 is found in honey bee's "Royal Jelly". It is destroyed by alcohol, heat and baking soda. It is necessary for healthy skin and hair. It helps the nervous system and relieves stress. Read my article on Vitamin B5. A deficiency may cause dry skin and wrinkles, severe eczema, premature gray hair and baldness, anemia and hypoglycemia.

Potassium works inside the cells along with sodium outside the cells. It is destroyed by alcohol, caffeine, sugar, diuretics and overcooking. It is helpful in sending oxygen to the brain. It helps to dispose of body wastes. It assists in reducing blood pressure and helps in allergy treatment. A deficiency in Potassium may cause edema or hypoglycemia. Natural sources of potassium is citrus fruits, watercress, green leafy vegetables, mint leaves, sunflower seeds, bananas, potatoes and whole grains. You can get potassium in a good multivitamin and mineral combination. Potassium can become toxic so talk your doctor.

Sodium is good for heat prostration

Copper and Vitamin B5 helps in pigmentation factor of hair and skin or premature gray hair.

Phosphorus is present in every cell. It's function is to keep bone and tooth normal structure. It helps to regulate the heart. It keeps the kidneys functioning properly. It transfers nerve impulses, and aids in metabolism of fats and starches. A deficiency may cause Pyorrhea and rickets. Natural sources are fish, poultry, meat, whole grains, eggs, nuts and seeds. Supplements include bone meal with vitamin D added to help with assimilation.

Biotin is needed for the metabolism of protein

Zinc is good for benign Prostrate hypertrophy a non cancerous enlargement of the prostate.

The definition of Preventative Medicine is a combination of diet, exercise and faith. Defined as the feeling that you want to get out of bed in the morning and that it is better to be alive than dead.

periodontal disease can be prevented with regular brushing and flossing of teeth. Vitamins A and C, calcium and Vitamin D are effective.

Vitamin P or Flavonoids/Rose Hips, same as Vitamin C with flavonoids, works with vitamin C to increase capillary strength. A deficiency may cause bruises and infection. Natural sources are yellow substances of citrus fruits and rose hips.

Vitamin E is good for psoriasis.

A hotter than hot shower is helpful in relieving Poison Ivy
