In my last 8 articles I have passed on to you my index of vitamins, minerals, and health issues. I am going to start with K and continue on. Keep in mind that I am only giving to you information on what I have read and notes I have taken through the years. My sources of references have been Prevention and The Cornell Encyclopedia of Health. Your doctor is aways your best source of direction. No matter how small you feel your health concern may be, speak to your doctor first before starting any vitamin, alternative therapy, exercise or diet program. Work with your doctor for the betterment of your improved health and well-being.

Vitamin K or menadione. This is a fat soluble vitamin and can be formed by natural bacteria in the intestines. It's function helps to prevent internal bleeding, and promotes proper blood clotting. A deficiency may cause colitis an inflammation of the colon. Sprue, a sore and red tongue, and anemia. Celiac disease is associated with the pancreas ie abnormal growth. Natural sources of Vitamin K is yogurt, alfalfa, egg yolk, sunflower oil, soybean oil, fish, liver oil, kelp, leafy green vegetables. A supplement of Vitamin K is not necessary. What little of this vitamin that our bodies need we can get through our food sources.

Phosphorus helps to keep our kidneys stay healthy.

Laetrile. Is made from apricot pits. It's function according to Prevention was to promote healthy cells. A deficiency may cause diminished resistance to cancer. Natural sources are whole kernels of apricots, apples, cherries, peaches, plums and nectarines. Laetrile continues to be a very controversial vitamin that has hailed it's anticancer effects. I started to research once again this so-called anticancer substance. There is just too much to read and write about the pros and cons of Laetrile. Many researchers say that it is pure quackery, other notable researchers claim its positive use for cancer. Some say that it is an inexpensive anticancer substance that is effect and that the government has tried to stop it because the bottom line is money. This is a very interesting substance to explore and educate yourself on. Some sites to get access to is Laetrile through Google, or a site called Zest for Life is another interesting site. Good luck and happy reading.

If you suffer from leg cramps the Vitamin E may help. Prevention says 400 units daily should help.

As we age, sometimes we develop liver spots or brown spots on the skin. Prevention says that Vitamin A is useful to diminish their appearance.

To continue to keep lungs healthy Vitamin A and C helps to build mucus membranes in the lining of the lungs.

Magnesium is called the anti-stress mineral. Magnesium is destroyed by alcohol. It's function is to help metabolize Vitamin C and Calcium as well as phosphorus, sodium and potassium. It is essential for nerve and muscle function. It converts blood sugar into energy. If your body is deficient then you are prone to kidney and gallstones, heart disease, depression and poor teeth. Natural sources are figs, lemons, grapefruit, corn, nuts, seeds, dark green vegetables, and apples. You will get enough amounts in a good multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Manganese is a gentle thyroid simulator. It's function improves reflexes and memory. It decreases fatigue and reduces irritability. It aids in digestion. Deficiency may cause fatigue and poor digestion. Natural sources are whole grains, nuts, peas, green leafy vegetables, beets, and egg yolks.

Vitamin E is good for cystic mastitis.

MSG is a flavor enhancer. It is added to most prepared and processed foods. It is problematic as it causes a number of side effects. One is bad headaches. You need to read food labels and stay away from this if you react. If you do not want it in restaurant food then ask it not be used.

Minerals are inorganic substances found in plants and animals.

Vitamin E helps to decrease muscle degeneration and destruction.

magnesium, Calcium and Biotin is helpful for muscle pain.

If you experience muscle sprains and stains then bioflavonoids will help decrease the effect.

We are going to wind up this article. I will continue in Article #10. See you there

Here's to you health and wellness
