Let\'s Move Campaign - What Does Obesity And First Lady Michelle Obama Have In Common?

First lady Michelle Obama is well known for being the first African American First Lady of the United States Of America. She is also known for her elegant and classy style of dress. Well another thing she has become known for in recent years, is obesity. That's right - obesity in the USA. At this point you are thinking that Michelle Obama is the furthest thing from being obese and from the looks of it, not even her kids nor husband show even the slightest hint of being in danger of falling prey to the deadly obesity disease. Well let's take a closer look at this.

Michelle Obama is an extremely athletic lady. She goes to the gym every day and loves to workout. This was part of the catalyst. The catalyst for what? We'll get to that in a second. The other part of the catalyst was the fact that one in three kids in the USA are said to be overweight. Here is where it all ties in. Michelle Obama launched her Lets Move campaign to see kids eating healthier and living healthier lives in an effort to get this alarmingly high rate of obesity and other chronic diseases that overweight kids face, stamped out of society.

At the beginning of her Lets Move campaign, she wondered if she would be able to make a change. Two years on she most definitely has made a change with her movement. Popular grocers such as SuperValu are building new outlets stores in hundreds of communities where they will sell more fresh food and vegetables. Walgreens are also in on this as well and will offer healthier options for kids. Some food manufacturers have pledged to cut 1.5 trillion calories from their produce. Celebrities such as Drew Brees, Lebron James and Beyonce have come onboard to spread the word of healthy living for kids, and the stories of success go on and on.

Michelle Obama's Lets Move campaign has highlighted the need for healthier eating in the USA society and she has made great strides over the last couple years. Obesity, heart disease and other chronic diseases are linked to improper diet. We as a society need to get back to having more exercise in our lives and to eating optimum amount of vegetables whether we buy them or we grow them in our own backyard.

So there you have it, the link between Michelle Obama and obesity, is her Lets Move campaign which aims to stomp it out by encouraging healthier eating and a healthier lifestyle for kids. If you are currently growing your own vegetables and consuming those vegetables then you are definitely doing your part to bring about a healthier USA and a healthier world.

It's a great goal but I don't think government will be able to change many bad habits. It's an education problem
