Lifestyle Eating Or A Diet - What Is The Difference?

Most of us are used to eating just whatever takes our fancy on any given day but is that always the best or the healthiest way to feed our mind and body? If you tend toward the obese you could be following any one of a number of "diets" at any given time. Then again, if you're a health and fitness fanatic you are quite possibly far more fastidious about your food intake. So we might ask, what exactly is the best or the correct way to keep our bodies in peak fitness?

Turn your mind back to what we are told regarding the beginning of time. Adam and Eve were given instructions not to eat the fruit from a particular tree then people who populated the world a little later were given instructions in detail as to what they should or should not eat. Clearly all of this was totally natural.

Does this not then give us a better idea of a good way of eating? A lifestyle way of eating as opposed to a "diet"? Fruit, vegetables and most plant food along with some meat and fish. Still later the people who lived on the earth took to eating cheeses, yoghurts and flat breads. Again all totally natural.

It's just as easy to follow this same style of eating today if we are careful when selecting our produce and groceries. The first rule would be to avoid anything canned, pre-packaged or with major amounts of additives. If you're uncertain how to get started, one such way of eating would be to follow the very fashionable Paleo Diet. There are other eating plans available that follow similar rules such as the Acid/Alkaline style. Dr Mercola is another person who gives many ideas on how and what to eat to gain a fully functioning fit body.

Whatever happens don't be fooled into following any fad diets like the cabbage soup diet, the low fat diet, low carb diet or high protein diet. They are all taken to excess and the body will generally be missing out on a number of important nutrients. People tend to think they will follow a fad diet to lose those extra pounds/kilos and once these are gone they can go back to a 'normal' way of eating. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way and anything one might have lost only comes back threefold making the person dieting feel compelled to once again try yet another fad diet. This then becomes known as yo-yo dieting and does the metabolism no good at all; avoid this way of eating at all costs and sensibly follow a natural style of eating.
