Let’s face it; as long as you are not a robot or some mechanical machine, every human is born with emotions. Emotions control how we feel, how we act and how we communicate with one another. Although there are some emotions which are less positive than others, one must learn how to handle and control our emotions just in case it creates a negative outcome in our life.
Emotions are meant to be expressed. Whether it be pumping your fists in the air to express happiness or success or frowning and sulking to express sadness and disappointment, one should never suppress the need to express one’s emotion. One should never supress one’s emotion as by repressing them over a long term may lead to a more powerful version of your emotion later which may be harder to handle or worse sometimes lead to depression. Deal with your emotions as you experience them.
Be able to identify your emotions. One may not know what sort of emotion they are feeling sometimes. Some guys might feel anger when they are dealing with is pain. This sort of confusion will only lead to more negative emotions which will cause one to experience more pain and problems.
Although some negative sounding emotions like fear, anger and jealousy might seem wrong, one must look at it in a positive way. Fear makes us weary of doing things that may harm us. Anger might occur when we notice some form of injustice and we would like to see the wrong being right. Jealousy can be used in a good way to inspire one to do better in life and to succeed in it.
Do not let your emotions manifest. Expressed emotions do not last. The faster you deal with them, the faster they will go away and you will be able to move on from there. Take anger for example. Once you deal with whatever is making you angry, the emotion will disappear. Only repressed emotions linger for a very long time.
One of the best ways of letting your emotions out is to cry. Tears can help a wounded soul. Normally when one does not cry out when they are sad, it does not feel good inside. By crying out and letting everything go, you will feel much better. When you are angry, do something physical to let off “steam”. Some ways of doing so would be to go for a long jog or maybe pump some iron in the gym. Some say that laughter if the best form of medicine. A good laugh can be incredibly healing. Do not stifle your joy.
Over time we learn how to handle our emotions. But we must always remember that we must never let our emotions control us. Our emotions will affect how we work, how we interact with people and how others view us. Learning how to handle your emotions may not be a walk in the park, but just because it may be difficult, it does not give us an excuse to not learn how to manage it.
