Icelands Loch Ness Monster

America has Bigfoot, Nepal is said to house the Abominable Snowman but how many of us have heard about Icelands Loch Ness monster? This particular creature is said to come in the form of a giant worm.

In a country full of lots of natural wonders along with plenty of ice and snow and stories of trolls and elves you would think they were happy with their lot - not so! Icelands Loch Ness monster was dismissed as nothing more than a local myth or legend up until recently when some compelling evidence started to emerge.

A local sheep farmer captured a video of the giant Icelandic worm in a remote area and it is regarded as hard evidence - no hoax. The worms movement is said to be exactly the same as a snake but the area is way to cold for snakes to survive. A local historian came out and added fuel to the fire by claiming this Icelands Loch Ness monster was actually centuries old. He pointed out that a map from the 1500's shows a illustration of the monster inside a particular lake - that lake turns out to be the exact same lake the sheep farmer made his discovery.

The only problem that stands out with this sighting of Icelands Loch Ness monster is the dimensions. Ancient sightings along with the local myths and legends claim that the worm is very long with two or three humps on it's back. The worm caught on tape by the sheep farmer is big but nowhere near that big. Many skeptics think that the video is showing nothing more than moving pieces of ice, others have said it's nothing more than a fishing net finding it's way through the ice.

Local birdwatchers to the icy lake were also interviewed by investigators but they turned out to be bigger skeptics than anyone else. They point out that if the monster was indeed the size of local reports then how could it possibly live in these conditions. It was put to them that the worm could feed on the fish in the icy lake but they quickly threw that out by pointing out that fish would never be enough of a feed for an animal that size. Saying this though they did admit that whenever they have their bird-watching cameras with them as they drive around the lake they lay them on the passenger seat just in case of a sighting.

Icelands Loch Ness monster is very similar to it's Scottish counterpart as they both have sightings stretching back centuries. Is Icelands Loch Ness monster real - that is for you to decide.
