Recent studies and research present that the available and most effective way of treating Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder is through medications and behavioral therapies. However, doctors or any other specialist in the disorder may recommend other treatments, prevention or tips that may ease the condition of an individual diagnosed with the said disorder. These alternative treatments may help the patients in alleviating their existing symptoms and to avoid any other symptoms that are probable to be suffered. Children having this disorder, at times may need to undergo special educational assistance such as tutoring, occupational therapy and the like. Alternative treatments to children with ADHD vary on their case and situation and on how they respond with the symptoms.

Several alternative treatments have been opted by parents of ADHD children like the intake of megavitamins, body treatments, and observance of a healthy diet, allergy treatment, chiropractic treatment, attention training, visual training and the traditional one on one talking therapy. Still, studies and research with regard to these alternative treatments mentioned are being developed and there is no authority declaring that the mentioned will be effective on ADHD symptoms specifically inattention and hyperactivity. Parents must be careful on how to manage their children’s inattention and hyperactivity and on what treatment they should consider depending on their children’s case.

One of the other alternative treatments for an ADHD patient is the Parent Training. Parenting and guiding a child with the disorder is very hard and challenging to do. Children may not often obey their parents and may not behave well towards their treatment. Parents must be a model to their children when it comes to organization and consistency among themselves. With these, children themselves will learn from their parents and from their environment.

Specialists and other expert’s best recommend parental education and support groups to aid family members deal with the patient’s behavior and be aware and responsible enough in following the actions that must be taken in the treatment of the disorder. By this, an environment and attitude may support the development and progress of the effectiveness of the treatment on the ADHD patient. Parental training also involves counseling that can assist parents on how they should properly meet and attend to the needs of their children considering their ADHD symptoms. Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder cannot be totally cured but somehow they can properly manage through compliance with the treatments requirements.
