Obsessive-compulsive disorder or better known as OCD is not a communicable or transmittable kind of disorder. It is not like being affected by flu just because your friend has one. No one is to take the blame about the disorder and no one has caused it. Never blame the patient of having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD because having one is against his will. The source of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is unknown up to now but specialists of the disorder are trying their best and are having ongoing studies and researches on the disorder. Yet there is available information that describes the cause of OCD that must be known.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder runs in the blood of family members. Many cases of OCD where one is diagnosed with the disorder while the other family member is claimed to have other anxiety related problems as well. There is no definite explanation on why it runs with in the family but scientists and specialists of the disorder are trying to study the genetic issue of the disorder. The said matter regarding genes may have been the reason of the obsessions and compulsions, fears, worries and doubts an individual is experiencing.

It is also said that the disorder results from inappropriate management and dealing with fears, worries and doubts. These encounters may have been normal to anybody if not maltreated or are not excessive. This is because of the neurotransmitters and chemical substances that send and encode messages to the nerve cells of the brain. If the chemicals that transport the message to the brains are not sufficient or are blocked along the way, fears, worries and doubts then happen. This is because the message has not been sent or has been incorrectly sent, thus giving the brain other interpretations. This results to uneasiness of the individual and may cause him to think things which should not be thought of.

Many individuals are affected by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with different degree of intensity of the case. Children are not only those who are greatly affected with this disorder. In the United States, there are more or less a million of children and teenagers both males and females who are diagnosed with OCD, approximately one percent of every one hundred kids and adolescents. In cases where adults have OCD, there is an estimate of ten OCD patients in every five hundred adults.
