It is very important that family members must be strong enough to encourage and help the patient to recover from the symptoms of his disorder. They must bear in mind that it is not on the will of the patient but rather are only the effects of the disorder. Patience is very important to each family member.
The patient is not the only one involved in the treatments and therapies that are to be done but the family members as well. Family members serve as co-therapists of patients. They are those who are present with the patient at all times. They must be very responsible enough to monitor the condition of the patient and to guide them when they are experiencing obsessions and compulsions.
When it comes to psychological treatments, the presence of family members and close friends are very important. There are basic information that therapists need from them in order to assess and treat the symptoms of the patient. On the other hand, like any other disorders and treatments, this may not best affect the condition of all types of patients. There are still various factors that must first be considered.
