There are various ideas and concepts that can be seen through Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. These may seem strange and others are even unaware of the disorder and are unaware that they are experiencing the obsessions and compulsions of OCD. It has been a common belief of everyone that the indications of an OCD patient are the same as the indicated symptoms suffered by another patient of the same disorder. Patients having OCD are all identified to have obsessions and compulsions but their compulsive and obsessive symptoms also vary in severity.

The symptoms of OCD may also affect patients in different ways. Patients can be affected by the symptoms of the disorder in varied situations and at the same time their symptoms also vary in certain situations and occasions.

Obsessions and compulsions of patients can be initiated in any time of their lives. There are two different periods where OCD symptoms have higher probabilities of occurring and being triggered. Individuals who are diagnosed with the disorder before their puberty stage are known to have the early onset of OCD. On the other hand, individuals who are identified to have the obsessive and compulsive symptoms are known to have the late onset of OCD. The treatments that are given to patients also vary on the symptoms that they are suffering from. Health specialists and professionals also suggested that the disorder may be subdivided into types so as to easily identify on what treatment is to be applied to the patient and on how they should cope with it.

It is also very possible that the obsessions and compulsions suffered by the patient may change as time passes by. Generally, symptoms of the disorder can best be treated and observed through therapies like cognitive behavior therapy, exposure and response therapy and response prevention and medication.

There are four subtypes of OCD. First is the pathological or compulsive hoarding which is identified with acquiring and failing to dispose a large number of things which are unnecessary at the same time. Obsessive compulsive disorder may also be diagnosed on patients who have given birth to a child. This is known as pos-partum OCD onset.

It has been a common knowledge that most patients of OCD are adults but cases also happen when a child in his very young age may be identified with the disorder. Their symptoms with adults having OCD vary in their severity and also vary in the treatments t hat are to be applied on them.
