No Parent Should Face Losing A Child

Why?

With the recent senseless killing of children within a few months of each other. In both cases these children were young victims. In Sept. 2013, a female six years old, Tiana Ricks who was fatally wounded on a trip some 65 to 75 miles east of Los Angeles she lived in Long Beach, California USA. Why? Is this still a huge problem for parents and why isn't more being done to stop it?

More recent a seven year old male up and coming football star. Seen in the photo when he was an infant with Senator then Barak Obama in Chicago. Talib Pecantte was shot Monday while he sat in his mother's car in front of their home. He died Tuesday night Dec. 3, 2013, at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. A candle light vigil was held by his family, friends, team mates and a caring community. It's sad and true that these are the things that should never happen to children.

I met Talib Hussin father of Talib Pecantte month's earlier and learned from news reports what happened. He was a volunteer coach for his son's local football team the Vikings. He explained to me that he will and wants to actively be involved in his son's life. He was doing all he can to bring his son up the right way. I remember, commending him for his efforts and encouraging him for his role.

Are kids safe with all of our smart phones today and high-tech gadgets we have in our possessions. Our children should be safe, let say 20 years ago. This would be a question you can ask any expert like a police officer or maybe a doctor. Or would you ask this question to a fireman or a teacher. How about a child social worker who specialzed in the welfare of children.

Kids are safe now no question about it. The vehicles are safe when or if a crash or accident occurs. What about home safety are kids safe in the homes today than years ago. Let say again 20 years ago, how were children safe then? Most experts would tell you that many kids are still in danger. Some children are the victims of unintentional accidents. Which is the number one leading cause of injury and death to children 14 years old and younger.

Project Safe Neighborhood Program:

Many kids are in the worst situations from the neighborhoods or towns they live. Plus their homes they live in. To the type of parents that are putting them in danger. Neighborhoods and parents have a lot of influence on children today. On one hand the children in the neighborhoods are facing many social problems, events and situations. Such as fights, gangs, peer pressure and bullies.

On the other hand children at home are facing some sort known and unknown types of abuse by someone close to the family or a parent, relative or caregivers. It was reported that over 500,000 kids are involved in Dependency Courts in California. That means for some reason these children were facing some abuse or neglect in the home. Now their lives and fate must be decided by an Judge with recommendation for all involved in the child's life. This is very different than Juvenile Court system that deals with the child if a crime was committed.

For the most part more can be done to keep children safe. They need to feel safe when they go to school and in most cases, they do. But, now their seems that more children are subject to some sort of attack for no reason. It's always sad when someone lose their life and especially sad when it's a child that dies. Can we all help save the next generation of leaders, business owners, sport's stars, models, actresses or what ever a kid can dream to become.

Worldwide Safe Kids:

Finally, I want to thank all who supported safe kids coalitions, families and friends during these difficult times. If you shared a card, a prayer, a comment or kind words with the families. Maybe, you shared a donation and or expressed your sympathy in some other ways.

Let me say that safe kids worldwide support families and appreciate your sympathy and your concerns. Special thanks to rapper, "The Dream" for his Robin Hood Project and donations to many families in similar situations that have financial needs.

Street Talk

If we can't do more to protect our children who ultimately represent our future, then we have all failed, when I was growing up often I would hear people say: "it takes an entire village to raise a child". I know this to be true because I can recall getting my behind whacked by the teacher, my neighbor; who would parent me until mine got home, and then my parents would put the icing on the cake. Going to sleep with a sore butt was quite hard, but I was reminded to do right all the time. It's sad though how we have lost our way and good family and social values are seemingly things of the past, these sick bastards are now preying on the innocent children who in some cases trust them. We have to stand up and be vocal and expressive about this evil, send a message letting them know that we are not tolerating their weakness; no not at all. Save our children!

Andy, thanks for the great reply...your right we do have many options to stop this if some how more people get on board. We are the product of are culture now. We've become to busy and that's making it harder for most people to stay focus on top issues. Plus, I feel that if you are not directly involved then it may not seem important. I hope I'm wrong and people haven't loss their compassion to help those in critical need of help. I do appreciate your input, replies, and comments. Carl

There is still hope my friend, there are still compassionate and caring people, the problem is that the number is small and the courage to come together and actually do what's necessary requires leadership. Someone has to step up and take charge.

Hi Alfred, Your right this is happening more and more across the USA. I remember hearing about multiple incidents where children are being burned. As the months of cold weather continues let hope and pray that no more have to die in that matter. Thank you for letting me know about that.
