The Parent Is The One In Control

I have written a few articles about children. This one as all of my articles come from my own personal experience. As I have nothing else, I don't have a paid education on the subject. I only know what I was taught by my parents and grandparents and what I have learned for myself along the way. Some things I have learned I wanted to do others I wanted to avoid like the plague. But this one should be interesting, well the topic is to me anyway. As I have stated before I have 4 children, well 5 I have a step-son who I think of as a son I have known him and taken care of him when he was with us since he was 6 months old.

I have many friends who have children and I do believe there is an unspoken code that unless the child is going to harm themselves you should not correct them unless this has been discussed and they or you are okay with it. This (to me) also does not apply when they are in your home doing something you do not like, or let your own children do. But even this should be handled by the parent. If you express your feelings to them about a particular behavior then they should address it with the child.

Adults can be very confusing to children. Well when anyone has more then one person telling them what to do they might get a little confused as well. It is always best to address it with the parent because you just don't know how they might react to you correcting their child. That is their place no matter where they are with the child if you want to get technical about it. There are times in a group of friends or family where one adult is correcting all the children and this is fine if the group or family agree with how the person is correcting the child or children.

I think we all feel the same way about our children, that they can do no wrong, even though they prove to us they do. Behavior starts from birth, you never really stop teaching your children no matter how old they are. Even if you don't teach them something verbally they learn. They imitate what you do as well as repeat what you say. If they see you working they want to work, if they see you do nothing they will do nothing. If you don't pay attention to them when they want you to they will demand it by crying, yelling, throwing a fit or what ever else they know might annoy you.

If you do not stop this behavior this is how they will demand attention from others in their life. Children will do what you do because they love you and want to be just like you. So if you control their behavior teach them how to act around others then watch what they are doing there will be no reason for anyone, no matter who they are to tell them anything. You control them no one else and they should not control you.

Totally agree with you. Yes, parents should be in control of their children and behaviour. Children need to be guided and be taught appropriately.
