Build It Up

Test your sense of balance as you stack up a tall tower, but watch out! Will you be the one to make it tumble?

Materials Needed:

  • A variety of small flat objects that can be piled on top of one another, such as crackers, cheese slices, dominoes, cards, notepads, coasters, paperback books, matchboxes, CDs, stationary, small plastic tubs with lids, plastic or paper plates, junk mail, and so on.

Playing time is 30 to 45 minutes.

How to Play:

  1. Collect a variety of small flat objects from around the house, as described above, and lay them out on the table.
  2. Seat players around the table, within arm's length of the middle.
  3. Have Player 1 select one object from the table and place it in the center.
  4. Have Player 2 select a different object and place it carefully on top of the first object.
  5. Have Player 3 select another object and place it carefully on top of the second object.
  6. Continue going around the table until a player finally causes the tower to tumble over.
  7. Begin again, with a new player making the first play, and try to make another tower without letting it fall over.

If you prefer, build the tower out of one type of item, such as crackers or cookies.

Don't Say It!

This game sounds easy, but that's what makes it so hard, unless you keep your mouth shut. And that's no fun!

Materials Needed:

  • Large sheet of paper
  • Felt-tip pen

How to Play:

  1. Make a list of common words that people are using always. For example: and, the, a , not, do, have, sorry, don't, want, and so on.
  2. Write the words on a large sheet of paper, and hang the paper on the wall so everyone can see it.
  3. Have one player select a word and circle it with a felt-tip pen.
  4. On the word "go", tell players to carry on their conversations as they normally would, but they cannot use the selected word. When someone uses the selected word, that player lose a point.
  5. When that happens, cross of that word, and have another player select a new word to avoid.
  6. Continue until all the words are all gone.
  7. Award a prize to the player who lost the fewest points.

You can play this one of the funniest party games for adults for 1 hour.

Instead of changing words, add a word that cannot be said while still including the previous words. If "and" is the word selected for the first round, and "the" is the word selected for the second round, neither "and" nor "the" will be used in the second round. And so on. The more forbidden words, the more players will forget and use them, and so the shorter each successive round.

You can play these party games when hosting a sleepover, a house party or even on a normal day with the family.
