When I go to a fair, there are certain attractions that I am drawn to, such as the Ferris wheel. I like the Ferris wheel because it is slow, and its pattern is predictable. Every once in a while, I like to ride a roller coaster, because this type of attraction is exciting.
When I checked the July 2013 calendar recently, I learned that my birthday falls on a Wednesday. Having a Wednesday birthday is like riding a roller coaster. The three days before my birthday begin the climb to the top. As my birthday approaches and I continue the climb, the excitement and suspense build. I finally reach my birthday—the big day that I have been waiting for since last year—and the top of the attraction. I look out over the theme park, and I see the crowd. I celebrate my birthday doing what I have been waiting to do. I also enjoy a tasty meal, a birthday cake, birthday calls from my family, and some fun—probably in the form of a trip to Shreveport, Louisiana to go to the mall and see a movie at the movie theatre. Then, late that night, my husband and I head home. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be the downside of the roller coaster—still fun, but without the suspense. I will enjoy my gifts, write my thank you notes, and move on to other activities, such as my workouts and television shows that I like.
My birthday is less than a month away, and I am getting excited. I have no idea what will happen on my special day, but I hope that it will be a good day. Perhaps something exciting will happen. In the movie theatre parking lot, for example, or in the mall parking lot, I might find a ring. I could then check to see if there is a name on the ring, and if I find a name, I could bring the ring home and begin an Internet search in an attempt to track down the owner. With the economy as bad as it is, however, it is highly unlikely that I will find a ring. People are being very careful with their jewelry and their money. Therefore, it makes more sense to make other plans for my birthday and to plan for something that could realistically happen.
One thing that would be cool to do on my birthday (if I have the money) is to go get my nails done. I have never done this before, so it would be a new and unique experience for me. It would also give me a chance to talk with another woman about things that women like to talk about, such as work and fitness. I would tell the lady doing my nails that I have a blog, and I might get another reader who will be looking forward to my next article. This is not all that I would like to do, however.
Another thing that I would like to do on my birthday (which would be more realistic and more practical) is to buy some warm-weather workout clothes. It would be great to get some shorts and new T-shirts so that I will have some clothes that I can work out in during the summer.
After my celebration, I want to go home, crawl in bed beside my husband, fall asleep in his arms, and dream sweet dreams.
