Ok, so as you can read on my website (my gluten free life), my wife is gluten intolerant. Since I married her, I have no choice but to be gluten intolerant (suppose to be funny). With so many products out there, I wanted to share with you a Gluten Free Pasta Review. We have tried so many different brands and trust me they are not all good, some taste like wet cardboard not that I have tried wet cardboard, i can only imagine. We are so lucky that Costco is making an effort to bring some Gluten Free Products to their stores. It seams that every other week they have a different brand of Gluten Free Pasta. Not saying these brands are bad but here are some we tried:
- Arrowhead Mills
- Tinkyada
- Ancient Harvest
- Schar
- Bionaturae
We've had rice flower, corn flour, millet, Quinoa and lots more different ingredients in our pasta. We enjoy Spaghetti Squash or even better, the lesser known, Oranghetti squash but very now and then could I have a real noodle please. Noodle replacement is just not the same. Being forced to be Gluten Free is bad enough.
We all know Catelli, well even they are jumping on the Gluten Free wagon. I can't wait to try their version.
Gluten Free Pasta Review here we go:
The brand we prefer, kids included, is Suzie's Gluten Free corn pasta. We buy this at our Costco for a real decent price compared to all other Gluten Free products that is usually more expensive then “regular food”
Ingredients: 100% corn flour and water.
So first off there are no added sugar or salts to try and make this taste better. With the kids in the house we try and read the labels. We avoid anything with high sugar, high salt and bad fats. Suzie's Gluten Free Pasta is excellent with all the sauces, my favorite is spicy meat sauce. The best advice I can give you is try different products and let the store manager know which ones are good and don't be shy to tell him when there is a product that taste like crap. The specialty foods buyer at our local grocery store is very receptive and is always bringing in new products as we ask him. We are his guinea pigs.
If you find a Gluten Free product that you like do not hesitate to let me know. I could even let you write a Gluten Free Pasta Review on my website : My Gluten Free Story.
If ever you have any questions about Gluten Free, send me a quick email and I will respond very quickly. I have an expert at home. Just follow the email link at the bottom of this page: EMAIL ME
Thanks for taking the time to read my article and now go eat your real pasta ;)
