Neural Mobility, Muscle Stretching Exercises And Adult Ballet Beginners

Pretty well everyone understands muscle stretching exercises - but now neural mobility is being discussed, and for adult ballet beginners, this is very interesting. You want to get more flexible, or gain back what you used to have, if you were a ballet dancer as a child.

Myofascial release is also a different but related topic - discussing the fine wrapping (kind of like a plastic wrap, or a cob-webbing) which envelopes our muscle groups and all our connective tissues. And that can also hold a lot of tension, get into knots and stop sliding easily as we stretch, dance work out, or just try to get up in the morning!

So What Is Neural Mobility?

We think of our nerves as electrical currents - or abstract message systems that go from our brains to our organs, hands and feet. But, our nerves are actually tough rope like structures. They are very physical, and get tensed up and caught on places in the body.

The nerves that travel from from our brain, down through our spinal cord, and branching out to our organs on the way to our legs, are like an information highway. But they are not tiny filaments or fiber optic like. They are strong and physical. They can compressed by inflamed tissues (such as swollen and painful neck or low back discs).

Nerves can get impinged upon by misaligned bones, swollen joints and knotted up muscles. Ouch!

Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Upper Back Pain And Lower Back Pain Can:

Lower your arabesque, lower all your leg extensions, give you foot arch pain and - lots more! Here's an example.

You are an adult ballet beginner. Maybe you did ballet as a child, and maybe you are a teen, but this is the class you are in. You would LOVE to get somewhere close to the splits, either front splits, or in second position. Men in ballet, I know this is even typically harder for you.

Whether you are a student hanging over books or your computer all day, or you work at your computer station all day - want to bet you don't have a lumbar support - or know how your computer monitor/keyboard/work chair should be set up?

Then you get a headache, feel tight in the shoulders, something like that, and then run off to ballet class?

While you are warming up, you feel a tug or a pain in your sciatic nerve, in your low back, when you sit in second position and try to do a gentle warm up stretch. You are now lacking neural mobility. And it hurts.

And when you wake up in the morning you feel the same pain, or resistance to motion.

So What Are The Ultimate Muscle Stretching Exercises?

To increase neural mobility, means to increase ballet leg extensions, the fluidity of all ballet movements, and to make you more of the dancer that you are in your soul. You will get so much more out of your ballet classes if you learn some expertly taught and gentle muscle stretching exercises. Your spouse, partner, or fellow dancers may want to join you, because exercises that increase neural mobility also calm the muscles and the mind.

The easiest muscle stretching exercises are deceptively simple. I think that adult ballet beginners will like them, and easily add them to their daily routines.
