Coupons And Rebates On Your Cell Phone?

Saving money has gotten easier!

We have all felt the dig in our pockets as the economy all around this big world has gotten harder to afford. It's getting harder and harder to afford even the basic needs like food and cleaning supplies. You have heard the hype I'm sure, that using coupons and store sales together saves you big time on your shopping trips - and that really is true, you can save extra money each month with coupons.

Coupons on the phone?

There have been new innovations with apps on cell phones these days, whether you have an Android based or an Apple based system. I'm sure they are even configuring ones for the new Windows 8 phone systems as well. All you have to do is search for Coupon in the apps list and a few choices pop to the front of your respective app stores.

Would you like to save extra, over the coupons?

I have tried out a few different coupon apps over the last year, as I have gotten fairly big into the savings you can find if you work the sales and coupons together just right. Double and Triple coupon sales are often rare, but oh so worth it for savings. One thing I love is that we have a store local to us that offers Double coupons to $1 every day of the year, and at times doubles them up to $2!

That same store even offers an app that you can use for your 'discount card' to "clip" extra coupons through the phone that can be paired with the paper coupons you bring in. A few of the other local grocers are starting to follow suit as well, and giving their customers virtual coupons that can pair with paper ones - you just have to check with your favorite stores to see if they offer that as well.

Ok, I get the store coupon apps - are there more?

Yes, there are a couple more apps out there that I have given a try. Most were through word of mouth from friends or family, one I had actually heard of from the local news "coupon guru". I use an Android based system, so I cannot promise all of the three apps that took my attention work the same per system - but they are worth a look at least.

SnipSnap is one that I just recently heard of, and tested out. I have to say - it's not too bad. At the moment you are able to use it through the phone for store vouchers, but not for clipped Manufacturer coupons (though they say that support for those will be coming as more companies stop requiring the actual paper clipping). I did notice that to redeem the fast food style coupons, it's best to go inside and order. I had bad luck through the drive-thru, but worked well inside.

Jingit is another app that works on multiple platforms, though it is still in the newer stages of development. They offer a way to get a cash credit to your account that can be either redeemed for music, or put onto a debit card you can request. It's not a fast cash machine and does have weekly earn limits, but it does work. The most complicated part of this app system is the redeeming part ... you have to take a clear image with your phone of the receipt to receive credit (but that is actually a simple and fast process as well).

What about the new Ibotta? It's been all over the US news circuits lately. It has recently gone through an upgrade phase as well, giving new bonuses and added offers for certain stores over the already large number of offers that you can redeem for cash. After you get up to the minimum amount saved from redeemed offers, you can cash it out to a PayPal account - in under 48 hours (though I have seen as fast as 30 minutes). It again uses the picture of the receipt for verification.

Hoping that breakdown was useful ...

I know that it's hard to save these days, and even harder to earn money back on things that you use every day. You can pair all of these systems up with coupons for items offered in the cash back apps to maximize out your savings. Makes your shopping trip worth a bit more, and it's actually a bit like a treasure hunt of sorts to find where in the store the offers are located. Even my kids have fun helping me shop these days.

Hopefully this bit of a spread out breakdown helps you and your family have a bit more cash in your pockets at the end of the month, and have a little bit of fun doing it. I would love to know if there are other apps out there that offer rebates or cash back as well. I enjoy testing them out, and would be honored to offer a review of them.
