When was the last time you did something nice for another person? Last year? Last month? Yesterday? What did you do? How did your good deed make you feel?
In the course of a normal day, you run into many people who do nice things for you. A customer at the supermarket may let you step ahead of him in line, for example. His nice gesture allows you to get checked out and leave the store sooner, rather than having to wait. By not having to wait, you can then get home to your family. The grocery store is not the only place where you will run into nice people, of course. Good-hearted individuals exist in other settings, as well.
If you are a student, you may have had the experience of trying to open a door while carrying a load of books. The books were heavy, and you were praying that you would not drop them. You knew that if you did, you would be late for class. Fortunately, however, another student who was coming out of the building saw your struggle. He then held the door open for you, which allowed you to get to class on time. You were extremely grateful to these individuals, and you thanked them for helping you out. You want to give back, however, and find another way to say thank you. What can you do?
Try this: The next time you buy a cup of coffee at your local coffee shop or fast-food restaurant, pay for your coffee, and then hand the cashier the money for a second cup. Tell him that the extra money is to pay for a cup of coffee for the next customer who orders it. You never know whom you will touch with this nice gesture.
Then, when you have your coffee, sit down, relax, and take in the scene around you. You might see people sitting near you, typing on their laptops, and you may wonder what they are doing. They could be fellow bloggers, or they might perhaps be online students who came into the restaurant for a change of atmosphere. You may also see professionals dressed in suits. They have a busy day ahead of them, and hopefully, it will go well. As you observe, savor your steaming beverage. Enjoy its taste and smell. Plan your day. Decide how many articles you will write and publish, and think about how your blog is changing your life. You can also consider what song you will run to when your work is done. After finishing your coffee, leave the restaurant, knowing that you have made the day a little nicer for someone else.
Thanks - Great Idea - People need to do more for other people without some expected return other than making yourself feel good for doing it.
