Accepting Failure - The Way to Achieve Peace Of Mind And Happiness

Everyone is not perfect. No matter who you are, whether you're rich or poor, young or old, you and I want two things in life: peace of mind and happiness in everything we do. Everyone worries, it's a part of life and nobody is exempt from it. How do we achieve peace of mind when everyday troubles bog us down? If you are in school, you worry about failing your exams, failing to adapt yourself or failing to be popular. If you are working, you are scared of failing to meet your deadlines, failing to meet your sales quota or failing to impress your clients with your well-rehearsed presentation.

Life is not all about winning every time

The truth is hard to accept. You cannot win all the time. To achieve peace of mind and happiness, we need to accept failure as a part of our journey of growing and learning. Happiness only comes if we choose to stay positive despite of failure. Happiness and being at peace with yourself is a life choice you make and not something that is uncontrollable as some may think.

When you fail, you can either choose to brood and berate yourself for not having done better or you can make a promise to yourself that you will learn from your mistakes and do better next time. Knowing that you've done what you could and cannot change the past should give you a sense of calm and help you to improve yourself so you will not fail again in future. Failure is the best teacher as you are given an opportunity to recognize what your weaknesses are and learn to overcome them.

Nobody succeeds the first time

You are not alone if you failed at your first attempt at anything because nobody succeeds at the first time. It takes a lot of stumbles and falling downs for a baby to learn to walk, right? We are all babies in many aspects of life. So, we should take failure as a baby would when he falls down with his first step. We have to keep getting up again or many of us won't be walking today.

So if you have not achieved the results you wanted in your exams, relationships, business or get the life you think you deserve, don't worry. You still have time and many chances to correct your mistakes and you are one step closer to achieving your goals. Don't let worry and negativity impede your journey to a sense of self-achievement and discovery. Peace of mind and happiness in every situation will eventually lead you to success because by being happy and at peace, you are always positive in your actions and thought. Worry is a waste of energy and time.

So instead of choosing to worry about things that are past, choose to accept what's-done-is-done and accept failure as it comes. You will find you are happier and be at peace with yourself. You are what you choose to be.

Thanks Merrily. I NEED to accept failures, Lol, don't we all? We'd have given up ages ago with our blogging, writing articles here and etc if we didn't accept failure and the challenges that come with it. I hope you embrace change too, and failure in a positive way. Thanks for the linking!

Great article, You will never get anywhere in life if you don't take risks and yes you will have failures along the way. I love how you put it-accept what's-done-is-done- But the good thing is you will learn from your mistakes and this will make you stronger more confident. Taking action is the key. See You at the Top Chery :)

I completely agree that we need to learn from our mistakes. Also that when we have learned from our mistakes, that we put that knowledge into action! Good luck getting to the top :)

Very good insights but as they say, failing is one thing, quitting is an other. Great article

For many years I thought the two were the same :(. So many times when I made a mistake or had a huge failure, I would quit. I would start something different, but inevitably the same thing kept happening. I am learning how true your saying really is. Thanks for putting it so plainly.

I hope we both keep learning and achieve what we want by persisting. We can't stop halfway now, and stop thinking by starting a new thing, we'll surely succeed. Let's just have one clear goal, and change the ways that fail to reach that one true goal. Thanks Merrily!
