I ask you, are you an emotional cripple? Is this you? Have you been so encumbered by the chains of fear and self-doubt that you cannot move? This is a huge problem in this country and it is on the rise. People are scared to face there fears. They have let their fears hold them captive.
People in this country have been so emotionally and physically abused that by the time adulthood comes they are mental and emotional prisoners of their own emotional paralysis
You may be saying to yourself “this guy is over exaggerating the case for dramatic purposes.” Am I? Turn on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, or for that matter any of the money channels; Bloomberg, FOX Money channel. Okay, you don’t like these choices. Let’s look at the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, or how about Time magazine.
Do you get my point; it is all bad news coming to us each and every day. They are saying America has lost it; we will never be great again. From the Senate, to the Congress to the little man on the street, America is in a state of emotional Paralysis.
You may be asking yourself “What does this blog have to with any of what is going on in our country today?” It has everything to do with it. I am trying to make the point that we as people in this great country cannot buy into the doom and gloom lie that is being perpetuated in the media today. When we do it trickles down to our own backyards, and into our homes and worst of all into our own minds, and lives.
Today I ask you have you bought into the lies they are peddling? Are you allowing your own self-doubts, fears, and self-unworthiness to make you an emotional cripple? There is an excellent book by author Susan Jeffers call “Feel the Fear, and do it anyway.”
This is exactly what I am advocating today. Feel the fear and do it anyway. I know you are saying “Are you crazy? Have you lost your mind?” No I know exactly what I am proposing I am telling you to jump out of your emotional airplane and let the parachute catch you.
I know that I am talking to people that need this kind of blog because I am starting to get emails and comments on The Road to Motivation Facebook Page. People need a swift kick in the can, a good shaking of the shoulders, a drill sergeant that will get in your face and holler “Feel the Fear, and do it anyway!!
You might be thinking “What right does this guy have to talk to me this way? He doesn’t know my situation. You are correct I have not walked a mile in your moccasins but I have walked a mile in my own. I know what you are going through more than you think. I will not go into my story a lot here because there is no since digging up bones. I will say this I was always picked last for sports teams, they took me because they had to; the coach would make them. I was called four eyes and poindexter because I wore glasses. I was told growing up by my father I would never amount to anything. I was definitely not the favorite of the two children.
I say all this to say this, I understand and feel the emotion pain and sorrow that grips and holds you hostage. I will close with this if you are to ever break free of the emotional paralysis you must jump. There is no other way. You have to climb up on that emotional rock, close your eyes, and leap for dear life, because friend, that is exactly what is at stake your very emotional being!!
Great writing Jeff. You make some very good points. Makes me want to face some of those fears and get moving. Thanks for the pep talk.
