Good Health Means Listening to the Soul\'s Desires!

Ill health is no more or less than a state of being out of balance with the soul’s desires to creatively express itself in the physical world”.

I stopped reading and stared in thought at nothing but the internal ponderings of my mind. That statement is profound, interesting and perhaps topical. Had I fully considered what it meant?

These are the words of Bruce Way in a book called Healing Energy.

Is it possible that ill health is simply the soul crying for validation or yearning to be heard? Is it our wake up call in a time when we have learnt to suppress our inner desires in favour of responsibility, commercialism or circumstance?

I have long believed that our unconscious mind has the blue print of perfect health. I’ve likely mentioned elsewhere its power and priority to preserve our body as one of its prime directives. This means storing negative memories (or actually the emotions attached to them) in our bodies while it waits for an opportunity to consciously resolve these inconsistencies, thus restoring balance to the body.

It makes sense to me that ill health is the unconscious mind tapping a person on the shoulder in a last ditch effort to have them take notice of, and deal with, inconsistencies in their being.

Is this the same thing, or simply an easy stretch, to believe that manifesting illness in the physical world is simply the the cry of our souls unrequited desire for wholeness? It could seem like a battle raging between our physical nature and our spiritual nature.

If the soul were the divine part of our being, why wouldn’t it present itself in our physical self as a means of being consciously heard? The more I ponder this thought the more it makes logical sense to me.

As I read on I’m confronted with the thought that it is possible for our physical nature to become disassociated from our spiritual selves and therefore starved from the soul’s life-giving energies.

Healing can only take place when the soul has an unobstructed connection with the physical world. In other words, when we listen to our unconscious mind at a conscious level.

I would add that, furthermore to hearing, it is then essential to do what makes the heart sing, the soul dance and the intuition prompts us to.

Anything less than this commitment to ourselves is to invite illness or ‘dis-ease’.

They are interesting thoughts. Interesting thoughts indeed!

Fascinating article, Heather. I believe our minds are capable of just about anything.

Rising afresh this morning to reread a few stared articles I find this article deep and maybe last nights comments not quite on the right track. But I do get where you are going this early morn, and understand it a little better. I have mentioned to a few of the other Authors how I would enjoy a one on one discussion with them, I think I would need more time in discussions with you, your thoughts fascinate me, and just as i get to fully understand where you are off to in an article you stop. I really think you need to get going on a book so it never ends.

I only stop because I run out of things to say... might be a good thing! ;-) However, if we were to meet over that coffee I'm sure we wouldn't run out so soon!

Psychosomatic "Disturbances in which emotional maladjustment leads to chronic dysfunction in some organ system are nowadays referred to as psychosomatic disorders" Now there's a word for you, used by me in an article that now has me rethinking my exposition. I must actually go away for a day more often, I come back to 98 emails all to do with Street Articles, and for once I get to read firstly the others comment before I open my mouth to put my foot in. I"m of the opinion that alot of our illnesses and ailment are self inflicted, how you wish to equate that is not mine to argue. If it is described as an imbalance between the soul and the body so be it. All I feel personally (and please no one, I'm not saying what you are suffering from is psychosomatic disorder) what I'm am trying to say that a lot of our own illness are brought on by us and us only. Excluding virus etc. Yet I do believe that if the mind is right the body will beat a virus, now Heather if that is what you are saying I agree with you. A mind set of good health will, I feel, create a healthier body. When Linda has been going through here cancer problems which have now been a constant for the last five years, I have not been in a position to get sick, who is going to look after both of us when the nearest family is 700km away. I have had a mind set that I felt positive that I would not even get a cold, let alone anything else. and the result, not a single problem except for the self inflicted things like heartburn or re-flux brought on by eating and drinking the wrong things at the wrong time and in the wrong amounts. Heather am I making sense or not? Is this what you are expounding in a very smart article if I may say so? Because if that is having the soul and body in sync then I understand what you have writen, and if it is not so, then sorry let me know and I will reread the article and comment again. I have just got in from a 400km drive and the mind might still be trying to catch up. Great article though as usual

Rob thanks for your thoughtful comment, as I've come to expect from you! ;-) Everything you say is very valid. Whether it is exactly my thoughts or not for the sake of the argument is really redundant. You have obviously thought it through and found a meaning. I think you have proved the power of the mind. Many people stay well through stressful situations and then take a break (whatever that is) and crash! Must be something in it!

Thanks, Rob--I shoulda looked it up myself--and Heather, I apologize for using the word 'psychosomatic'--I didn't realize it was synonymous with 'lunacy'! I thought it just meant ill-health with an emotional component--and that is the sense in which I used it below.

Heather, I think we agree on so many things. We tend to take care of our bodies better than our souls, and other people better than we take care of ourselves. The soul, mind, body connection is uppermost in my consciousness at the moment. I'm dealing with an illness that I know is an out crying from my soul. I'm very stubborn, so my soul had to scream at me. Best to be aware of this connection, and listen to your inner self before you become ill. But always to remember, if you created the illness, you can undo it by following your inner voice. That's what Louise Hay is all about. Thank you Heather. We all need to hear this over and over.

I read just today Joan that the only difference between a sick person and a well person is that the sick person has forgotten the memory that they are whole. Our unconscious mind knows our perfection... why do we get so busy negating that?! Good luck with your health... I know it's one thing to know these things and another to put into action the wisdom.

John, your comment prompted a reminder for me that we are all souls in a body, rather than a body who has a soul. It may be a subtle difference to some but to me it's very profound. This very thought helps me be more dedicated to my own journey but also a better parent to my kids when I recognise what they really represent at a deeper level.

Thanks Joe. The best articles, in my book, are the ones that make me think. I am always happy for other's to reject my ideas, after all we're all at different places in understanding. My very ideas now may be different next week and totally discredited next year. For now, though, all that matters is having an open mind to explore the possibilities.

Exactly, Having an open mind and the ability to look outside the box is how we move forward. Don't do that and you might get mired in stagnation.
