We all go through periods in our life when the going gets really tough and where there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Our problems could be financial, with our relationships, with our jobs, with our health …. There is no limit to what can go wrong.
The way to get through is to hold on and know deep within that what is happening to us, is happening for a reason. The experience is part of a master-plan that will ultimately make our lives better. Even though the current situation may be painful and hateful, be confident that eventually, when we look back we will see that good has come from our suffering.
Hope And Faith Will Get You Through
If we are going to get through the tough times it is important to realise that we are not alone. There is a being (universal energy) watching and planning. It created the universe and every planet and galaxy in it, as well as our world and every creature in it. It created nature and all the natural laws which work so splendidly. Think for a moment at how time passes without anyone doing anything and how the seasons roll in and out. Think how the leaves know how to fall in autumn, how seeds know how to grow, how eggs know how to hatch, how our hearts know how to beat and our lungs know how to breathe. We don’t do anything but someone must have organised it all. A force far greater than ourselves.
If this creator took the time to do all of this, it stands to reason that he will not fail with us. The plan for us will be just as perfect.
A great bible verse is:
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declared the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11).
We can get through anything when we have hope and faith that the end result will be positive.
See The Opportunity In Every Obstacle
No-matter what is happening to us if we stop and reflect we will be able to see a positive. For example;
- Loss of our job means more time for the family
- Illness teaches us to value life and develops us gratitude and empathy
- Loss of a loved one develops kindness and inner strength
- Tough financial times develops ingenuity and a turning away from ego
- Jail time may give us time to study for a new career or tough the lives of people also on the wrong track
It may be hard to be grateful at the moment of our pain but eventually we will see that God created our situation so that we could ultimately achieve his purpose for our life.
As Dr Robert Schuller says ‘tough times never last but tough people do’.
Once we know that everything is as it should be we have the courage and fortitude to keep going and come out stronger and able to fulfil our life mission.
