There are so many people throughout the world who are completely and totally dissatisfied with life. Most of the time, people are unhappy because they are lacking; either we don’t have enough money, love, friends, time etc. We never really stop to ask ourselves why or better yet “what can I do to change my life today”? Actually, some people have asked themselves that question but of course they haven’t been able to come up with a “good enough” answer.
First and foremost we need to see “if” and “what” we need to change. For example, if you were born with black hair but really want blond hair, there’s not much you can do other than dying your hair and consistently keeping up with your new roots. Self Knowledge is your key ingredient on changing your life.
Self Knowledge is really very simple and you need to truly know yourself in order to change your life. If you know that you don’t like writing then most likely you wouldn’t apply for a job at your local newspaper, would you? Understand that there are things about you that can and can’t be changed. If you are unhappy with your weight and constantly feel “bad” because of your weight, well that is actually something you have the power to change. Learn to accept and appreciate who and what you are first then change what you do have total control to change in your life.
Self Appreciation is a key principle on how to change your life for the better. When you learn to appreciate what you have and more importantly yourself, it brings feelings of Self Empowerment. You must appreciate who and what you are first before any real change can take place. If one of the issues in your life is money or better yet the lack of money, then before you can be blessed with more you have to appreciate the money you currently have. It might sound crazy to you at first but you truly have to take it into consideration. Being appreciative of our current state (whether it’s money or otherwise) will bring us feelings of happiness. If you feel happy with only $50 in your bank account right now, imagine just how much happier you would feel with $500. Appreciate what you have now, what you look like now and have a vision of what else you would like that you currently don’t have.
Having a Vision is so important in the steps on changing your life because the mind is such a powerful tool. If we see it, we can conceive it and achieve it. One of the reasons I consider having vision to be so vital is because it reminds of what we want to accomplish. It’s kind of like your mind using these visions as goal setting and tracking. How could you want something if you don’t know what it looks like? If you want that perfect romantic relationship then you must not only envision what it looks like but also what if feels like and you must do this every single day. Your mind will keep track of this goal and point you down the right path to accomplishing it. Ultimately it is up to you to stay committed with your vision.
Commitment, I would say is the last piece of the puzzle in changing who you are. You must stay committed not only to your vision but also to learning about yourself and appreciating who you are and what you have. If you forget to feel grateful or happy for what you have or if miss a day of visualizing what you want, don’t fret, just pick up where you left off on the next day. We all know that commitment and consistency are closely related but try to remember that it does take time to incorporate a new habit or get rid of an old one. Remember that Self Knowledge, Appreciation, Vision and Commitment are all strategic methods on how to change your life. In conclusion be sure to incorporate all four of these helpful principals in your life to start creating the life you want.
