How to Develop Self Awareness – Shaping Your Reality

The common saying is that we are all products of our environment. Well, I would like to challenge that theory. I believe that every person has the mental capacity to make their environment a product of them. When this happens, I call it shaping your reality. So just what do I mean by “Shape your reality”? Well by reality I mean your perception of all interpersonal connections and all connections between you and your environment. By shaping your own reality, you have control essentially every aspect of your life, including, but not limited to, your peers’ perception of you, the opportunities presented to you, your relationships, your acquisition of wealth, and basically every other aspect of your life. With these three steps, you have the power to turn make your life what YOU want it to be – the power to shape your reality.

Step 2. UNDERSTANDING THAT YOU REALITY IS SHAPED BY YOU DOMINATING THOUGHTS, IDEAS, AND BELIEFS. Most people never fully understand the role their mind plays in shaping their world (their reality). The brain has the power to shape your world through a combination of conscious and subconscious thinking. Since you are the center of your own reality, you have the ultimate power to shape it.

As we said earlier, the interactions that you have with your environment only persuades your perception of your universe and your reality, and YOU must make the ultimate judgment. You make this judgment mostly subconsciously through you’re your dominating thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. Whenever there is an interaction between you and your environment, that interaction has on value until your thoughts, ideals, and beliefs give it value. For example, if you hold the belief that each negative event in your life provides an opportunity for an equal positive event to occur, then you may take event that many would view as a bad situation – such as a breakup – as merely an opportunity for something greater. On the other hand, someone who does not share the belief would only see the event in a negative light.

So what does knowing this mean? Your dominating thoughts, ideas, and beliefs can create opportunities for wealth, better relationships, improved social status, and your dominating thoughts, ideas, and beliefs have the power to create poverty, ruin relationships, and worsen people’s perception of you. Maintaining a positive outlook on every situation and having internal assurance (core confidence) in every circumstance – you shape you reality in a positive way. When a certain thought or idea dominates your thinking – the event tends to play out in reality because you subconsciously create opportunities to make your thought a reality. Likewise if you maintain a pessimistic mindset and see the worst in situations, you overlook opportunities or fail to take advantage of the positive opportunities available. Although this may seem simple, application of this is much more complex as most of our thoughts are subconscious and caused by years upon years of social conditioning. As we discuss in the next step, it takes a conscious effort.

Step 3. MAKE A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO CONTROL YOUR DOMINATING THOUGHTS, BELIEFS AND IDEAS. You must make sure that your dominating thoughts, beliefs and ideas, go toward creating the reality that YOU want to life in. As stated the be it takes a CONSCIOUS effort to make sure that your dominant thoughts, ideas, and beliefs are positive takes a lot of effort on your part.

More specifically, your THOUGHTS must be focus on attaining the reality that you want to achieve, your ideas must be based on a plan or way to obtain your reality, and you must hold the belief that your reality is actually attainable and that you have the capacity to obtain whatever reality you want. From personal experience, I have also found it useful to imagine the FEELINGS you would feel if you obtained your desired reality. So for example, if the you want a fulfilling intimate relationship with a beautiful partner to be part of your reality, your THOUGHTS should be about having such a relations ship, your IDEAS should be focused on a plan to obtain such a relationship, and you should hold the BELIEF that your goal is obtainable. Also, when you should take time to imagine how you would feel if you obtained an fulfilling intimate relations ship and bask in the feeling.

By shaping your reality, you are utilizing your mental capacity to control your environment. You can shape your reality by first understanding that you are the center of your reality; then by understanding that you thoughts ideas and beliefs control your reality; and finally by making a conscious to control these dominating thoughts, beliefs and ideas. By applying these principles, you will be well on your way to shaping your own reality the way you want it to be!
