Just Do It!

Affiliate marketing, until very recently, was something to do with horses (filly!). A complete mystery.

I have done my time in the ‘employment’ world and although my job was rewarding, the politics drove me mad, so I got out.

Teaching was all I knew about. I’d never filled in an application for any other jobs and so I’ve failed miserably. In fact, one of the reasons I’ve been unsuccessful in the job market is because I’m too well qualified – how does that work? I began to wonder whether having a degree meant having a stressful job and I didn’t want a stressful job.

Time to reassess.

It has taken some time and a financial situation which I need to rectify quickly but I have come to the conclusion that I don’t want to work for anybody. I want to work for me. How’s that for selfish?

This is where the internet comes in. What a wonderful vehicle for learning just about anything. I came across online marketing by chance which led to affiliate marketing (not about horses!).

I had been researching for a few weeks and found a supportive online community who have taught me more than I could ever have believed possible. The lovely thing about the internet is you can ask questions and people answer. It doesn’t matter how silly or mundane the question seems, there is always someone there to help. Not only that, they can’t see how embarrassed you are about asking the question.

In the past 4 weeks I have learnt more about a online marketing and about myself than in the previous 18 months put together. It is said you learn more in the first five years of your life than the rest of the time put together. I think I must have had a delayed start and my first five years have started now.

Actually, this isn’t about affiliate marketing at all. This is about starting from scratch and realising that I have more skills, talents, life experiences, knowledge and enthusiasm for which I didn’t give myself credit.

This is about believing in yourself, and if I can start over, then anyone can.

I remember reading a book called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers Ph.D. and at the time I didn’t understand it. Now I do.

I have a message for anyone who is on that precipice of life and is ready to jump in to the scary unknown.

JUMP!
