Learning is for Life

There is always something else to do, see or experience. In life the lesson is: never stop learning.

I think when you make up your mind that you will never know all there is to know, then it is truly possible to starting living extraordinarily.

Curiosity killed no one

A big part of being able to do this is by remaining curious to life around you. Whenever faced with a challenge, difficult situation or even just an unusual circumstance, stop and ask the question “why is this happening in my life?”

If asking from an open mind the answers tend to come more easily. And these answers may hold the seeds to new opportunities for you.

In my work environment there is quite a mixed bag of personalities. Some are abrasive, rude and stubborn while others are shy, friendly and easy going.

Now I tend to think of myself as friendly with a touch of shy and a dash of stubborn. And I do not always see eye to eye with all the other personalities in my office. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have effective working relationships with them.

I find if I remain curious about what other people have to contribute and if I take the time to understand their points of view and truly listen to what is being communicated I can benefit in the process.

This doesn’t mean I compromise myself; it’s just that I can always learn something new if I take in a new perspective. Every interaction matters because it’s always a chance to learn, grow and connect. It’s important to remember to leave our preconceived ideas aside long enough to be able to get the message on offer.

And more often than not whatever I dislike in someone else, I actually possess in varying degrees in myself. So by remaining curious enough to be open to the lesson available I can move through the experience with a positive outcome.

The purpose of learning is to do, be and have more and to contribute to the world. And you can contribute to the world in no better way than to make the most of yourself.

By continually learning a new skill, hobby, language, emotional intelligence, behavior, sport, cooking style (the list is endless!) you grow your own self-worth and value to the world around. All the wisdom and knowledge you possess is then passed on to others as you interact, who get to add their own unique twist on it.

And so the cycle continues every expanding and increasing consciousness.

Make up your mind today that learning is for life and start to feel and contribue to wonderment of the world around.

Your stories, comments and feedback always welcome.

"I actually possess in varying degrees in myself" Profound quote. I have thought of writing an article on this concept. We can't perceive something in someone else unless we first have experienced it in ourself. Now that puts another slant on finger pointing! Enjoyed your article Carmen.
