Life\'s Funnel - Spiralling Onward!

I am spiralling headlong into a funnel. Not downward but rather forward. Drawn inexplicably onward. All at once I’m in slow motion and then moving with inescapable speed.

Looking around me I see my partner and children, all looking at each other, circling each other, laughing, smiling, questioning. Turned upside down, right way up, spiraling like some cartoon wheel. Separate and yet bound together by some magic force of love and shared experience.

I hear words that are garbled like we’re talking slowly under water. Strangely I understand our unique communication where we’re all talking without knowing the answers. It helps to express our thoughts even when the answers aren’t obvious.

Suddenly, we have a moment of bursting into clarity. Practical considerations happen that make movement forward so rapid that I’m aware of running and not keeping up. Action stations!

Finally, for now, we drift into the eddying waters of waiting for events and happenings out of our control. The bits when the universe must align to project us further onto the course we’ve embarked upon. Other people and other places we don’t control are involved. Things we can’t see yet or know about until the time is right are just over the horizon.

What weird experience is this?

This is perhaps the first time I’ve known it. Change is in the winds of life. Changes that we have initiated. This breeze of new direction is one that we’ve called upon. Set our sails for in anticipation. Consciously decided what we want in life and called forth the experiences that are required to put it in motion. Not to control the course but to set the destination.

And ‘things’ are happening to realign our lives with our goals.

The ride is exhilarating because we are heading in the direction of what we want. Maybe not how we expected to get there, but with a commitment and trust to the journey.

Imagine how this would feel if no one was holding the rudder?

That’s how many people set their course in life and how I’ve ridden the storm in the past. Excited squeals are often desperate shrieks when it’s like that!

The conscious mind directs the boat. It’s the helmsman. The unconscious mind says “Aye, Aye Skipper!” and sets the sail while raising the wind.

If your conscious mind is not in conscious control it doesn’t mean you float at harbour. Every one of us projects thoughts, beliefs and values out into the world. We all get back what we ask for.

The difference is in the planning. Knowing where you’re heading means shooting the channels instead of being shipwrecked on life’s rocks… and wondering how you got there.

Enjoy the ride! Yeeee-haw!!

Go away for a day and come back to an article like this, I am actually at a loss for words, read it to my wife and told her, she asks please keep writing its the first time I am not full of opinions. This is a good article fantastically written. I remember you talking of change, and We wish you well in what ever comes forward. Change something Linda and I have done maybe too many times is an adventure with a result. We have made some mistakes (in hind sight that is) yet the changes have always been a lesson in life, one that no university can teach you. Again great article.

What a great picture you paint of the family network (or any social network). Such an anology of life and of creation. I love the winds of change. Thanks Heather, good read for me. Wise words x

Great article. I couldn't agree with you more. It's kind of hard at first to realize that like attracts like but it makes perfect sense. Life is like a mirror; face life with a smile and she will smile back.

Everyday I try to teach my daughter to only put positive thoughts and feelings into the universe. At times, I find this hard, but that is because I am retraining my thought processes. So, I try to teach my daughter now, so her conscious mind will automatically act this way and the universe will provide for her what she needs. I do hope it works! Good luck to you Heather in the changes you and your family are going through. It will all end perfectly with your positive thoughts and energy!

It's not just the outcome that matters but also enjoying the journey, AJ. Thank you for your well wishes. Your daughter is so ahead of the pack just to be aware of these positive things. Kids are like little sponges and she's so lucky to have your example!

Indeed Shawn! Mind you, lots of people ask and then sit back waiting for it all to miraculously happen. Has to be a balance somewhere I suppose! I should maybe be writing about smart goals!
