This maybe the most important question that is "not" on your mind now, but it needs to be asked.Life is complicated to say the least! There are some areas that I would to present for discussion here:
- Basics: the simple things that bring you through a tough day.
- Focus: how to get rid of the clutter and outside influences that distract and upset "normalcy."
- Re-think/"change": when something is not working-stop and think about it.
- Learning: sit down and learn how to do something in a better or completely different way.
The perspective I would like to present here will be from a "Baby Boomers' " view. I am also looking to present this in a way that can be used by all age groups. Ok, here is the bottom line at this point: "Cut the crap and get real!"
Get "M.A.D."!
Now I am not saying anything about a temper tantrum, no-not at all! What I am saying is to take a look at what your situation is and get "Motivated." Motivation can come from many sources and for many reasons.
- Faith in God.
- Circumstances.
- Fear.
- Knowledge.
These are just a smattering of examples-what gets you motivated to act can be very different. Please take some time to think about this. I would also suggest that you keep a journal and write these down as you go along.
Action-this is where the rubber meets the road. The road to where you ask? Picking up the pieces after being out of work, losing a home or any numbers of difficult situations that life can throw at you. The fear factor can be over whelming! This is how I look at fear: False Evidence Appearing Real. This may sound altruistic to some, but I have kept this with me for many years and it bears itself out if you look into a situation deeply enough. Fear thwarts most from taking action. Take a step forward, get going-"failure is an option"! [Failure teaches us lessons as we go-learn from failure!] Take action-step into the "unknown, get going and see what you can do! Action will get you out of the rut and on the way to success.
Dedication. Make a plan to succeed and stick with it. It takes 21 days to change a habit. In other words make your plan and stick with it! Set aside time every day and do, and keep doing what you need to do to become successful.
This is the first of a series of articles that I am working on. More on dedication soon.
Just the first of a series of articles that will hopefully bring people out of living below your means.
