Your Unconscious Mind Is Keeping Secrets

The client wanted help because he struggled to make money. He had a belief stored away that he couldn’t become wealthy and this, on a conscious and unconscious level, was actually working against him very consistently.

This man was willing to release this very limiting belief using a therapy connected with his timeline. Using a guided visualization he was travelling back to a time when he was in the womb forming his earliest impressions of life.

He heard the arguing first and assumed it was his parents fighting. Then he became aware of an opinion he had formed; “If that’s what money does, I don’t want any part of it!”

This is the moment that was life changing for the client. As he watched the situation unfold his startling realization was that his parents were actually watching a movie whose verbal debate had carried forth with him into life.

This story, passed on to me, is true. It’s easy to discredit it unless, like myself, you’ve experienced the power of this therapy yourself to make positive changes in your life.

  • Was it true or a figment of his active imagination?
  • Was it his unconscious mind showing him a part of his life that was hindering him from reaching his highest potential?
  • Do incidents like this have the power to change an individual’s life so dramatically?
  • Are these limiting beliefs and negative emotions stored perpetually at a cellular level?
  • Most importantly, can we change what is?

His parents certainly had no memory of watching any particular movie during his gestation and yet, on him, the effect had been far reaching.

Another man who I trained in NLP etc. with had a similar experience. It caused him to ask his mother if he had, indeed, been conceived out of wedlock. His mother was extremely upset and, after many years of holding the secret from her son, accused her sister of having broken her trusted secret. “No”, he tried to explain gently to his mother “I was there, mum”.

For him, the knowledge he gained was very real and had impacted his life without knowing it on a conscious level.

I have experienced some amazing changes myself and can attest to the clarity of these experiences. The change can happen in a moment of time when a new learning for life is grasped, a limiting belief released or a negative emotion dissipated.

To me, it’s part of growing toward wholeness, wellness and a greater understanding of self and others.

We’re all on our own journey. It’s just a matter of whether we want to carry all our baggage or drop some along the way. I’m all for lightening the load.

Thank you Dr Becky! Unfortunately it's one of these things that the more we know the more we realise we don't know. The good part is that it keeps the journey fresh and exciting. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Great article. I think it is human nature to hold on and not let go of things a long the way. We all could live a happier life to just let go and be happy in the moment.

Extremely enlightening, Heather. I'd love to learn more about exploring the origins of our fears, it sounds amazing.

It's a fun journey. There's many facets and lots to learn. Moments of wishing I never knew this stuff (overwhelm) and realising my cup is full for now. Moments of excitedly knowing a new piece fits the puzzle. And always, always knowing it's only the tip of the iceberg of our human understanding. The human - the last great frontier of discovery. There's some great books out there if you really want to know more without spending heaps of money! Careful though AJ... it's addictive! ;-)

Another winner Heather, it sends chills down my spine to think what happen years ago that can be influencing my life. More scary, what did the wife and I do that might be affecting my kids. They are all doing well in life so may be I'm worrying about nothing.

lol, you have to let that worry go! I figure if I'm doing it wrong and negatively affecting my kids they can have therapy and work themselves out later!! It's not scary to have this knowledge.... empowering!

I think like you, Rob. I know some of the baggage I care from my parents raising me and worry what I'm inflicting on my kids. I try to remember the most important thing is unconditional love. And as Heather said, the rest we have therapy for!

If we take responsibility for our own lives we'll never parent bash - after all they did the best they knew how based on their own experiences and (as you point out AJ) the motivation is most likely love. I think the best gift we can give our kids is the skills to take ownership of their own thoughts and actions. From my own experience I know this is easier said than done! Nobody can take our personal power... although we do often give it away!

Great article Heather. I sounds like I need to lighten my load alittle and start thinking of the important things in life. Like making enough money to live on.

It does us all good to look at our priorities and make sure they're in line with what's best for us! Sounds like you have a common goal with many others! Money may not be the most important thing in life but I think it's way ahead of the opposite ;-)

Yes, it's one of these things that the more we know then the more we realise we don't know. Persistence does pay off now.
