Drug Trafficking And Drones: the Perfect Marriage

When I think about the future of drones, I wonder what they will be used for. Sure, as everyone knows, amazon will be delivering your bestseller book, ramen noodles, and your big screen T.V. We also see the military using it's force and bankroll of millions to develop flying killing machines.

But, what about other uses that may not be condoned; or necessarily, legal? Now, that's an interesting thought. Sure, the ACLU and other groups could say the US military uses are questionably legal. I'm not talking about that issue however. I'm talking about the drug trade. I think there are lots of reasons drug dealers and traffickers will use drones but these are a few.

Like any other delivery business, using drones is super cost effective. Now, I'm not in the drug business but I bet it gets pricey to organize the huge chain of hands delivering drugs. From the creation of the drug to the consumer, it's possible that thousands of people were involved. The "head drug lords" would surely see how drug delivery could change from drone use.

Drone us will decrease the price of drugs overall. Simple business concept here. If you lower the overhead, the price of the product decreases. The left over money that people will have could be spent in local economies in a positive way; and maybe, boosting the economy (hypothetically). I wonder how this could affect the tax payer overall however. In a good way? Bad way? Who knows.

On the street level, a drug dealer wouldn't need to leave his/her house. For instance, a small bag of a drug may weigh 8oz. A good drone could easily carry 1-2 pounds. The drug could be taped to the drone and dropped off no problem. No worrying about getting busted on the corner or getting pulled over by police. It's a smart business move.

Skip trying to dig tunnels, swim over the rio grande, or smuggle across heavily guarded US/Mexico gates. Use a drone to fly at night over the river. A good drone can fly several miles on one battery. This is going to happen if it hasn't already.

If I'm the only one that sees this, I'll be shocked. The world is changing. Drones are the future. There are going to be really good uses of drones. Is it so surprising that drones would be used in questionable manners as well. Absolutely not. Human trafficking of drugs is becoming obsolete as technology becomes more advanced. Other countries are having a more active role in the technological revolution. In the next couple of years, I bet you see a little drone police chase after a drone carrying a little nickel bag. If they shoot it down and it falls in front of me, finders keepers! ;)
