Facebook applications are easily added. Any time you use a product online where you share information via Facebook, you often add an application that allows you to do so. Any time you play a game or share a picture, flower, prayer, etc, you add a Facebook application to your user account. Most of the time allowing these Facebook Applications on your user account is not a problem. Sometimes, you run out of space for the number of applications you are using and need to remove them.
A second reason for removing a Facebook application occurs when someone asks you to click a link and you end up getting a Facebook virus. Facebook viruses are usually of the type where everyone in your friend list gets an irritating message or posting. When you get one of these viruses, the first thing to do is to change your password, this prevents the application virus from continuing to bug your friends. The second thing you do is remove the application.
To remove a Facebook Application follow these steps:
1. Click on the pull down menu from your Facebook account (near your name) and select “privacy settings”
2. Select “Ads, apps, websites”
3. Select “apps you use”, then find and click the name of the app to be deleted
4. Select remove app or alternatively edit application specific details, like when to be notified
5. Do this for all the applications you want to delete
Note: the problem of having large numbers of applications on Facebook is that it can take many pages of searching for the specific application to find it.
If the application you deleted has a Facebook virus, after you delete the application, remove all the postings of this from your web page. You do this by clicking the posting and then edit, then delete.
If the application you deleted sent a message to friends, click on messages, then select the specific message and then select delete or remove conversation.
Other reasons for removing an application involve not enough privacy settings for using the application. Many applications access your friend file and all of their associated data. And there may be instances when the application uses bad grammar, offensive pictures, offensive content, or you may just be bored with the application and no longer want it to appear on your Facebook page.
In general, once you’ve deleted one application, you will find it easy to delete applications in the future.
