It's easy enough to take in the fact that the Kindle ebook reader has the choice of over 950,000 books plus blogs, periodicals, PDF files and audiobooks. But I don't think the realisation comes until you are an owner of this great little device and see for yourself how much you can do with it. Did you know that you can transfer your own personal documents to this reader or have background music while you use your Kindle?
I spent over 2 hours just looking around all the features of my Kindle when I first got it, going into each application and seeing what could be done, I was amazed about the extra little things that I could achieve. Once I had downloaded my book, I could change the font size, lines per page, condensed text, have text to speech, add bookmarks or notes and even highlight phrases or sentences. There is even a feature so that the screen can be rotated. Today I was reading one of the newspapers I am subscribed to. One article caught my attention and I wanted to show it to my husband so wondered whether I could print it off. I went to Kindle Forum on my computer and searched to see if it was possible. Little did I know it was so simple that I had it printed out within 3 minutes of doing the search. And at the same time I fixed a problem with a download of a book that I had ordered by mistake and easily found out through the Online Live Chat. I didn't even know until today that there was a Live Chat so that's a bonus.
It was amazing to see what I could access. In newspapers alone. There are 155 different ones to choose from all over the world. When you go into each publication, there are 3 ways to view. If you just want a taste of what it's like, then you can subscribe to a 14-day Free Trial, just one per publication. Once you have decided that you want to subscribe, you can buy a one-off with the current issue or buy a monthly subscription. The choice is yours. Downloads are there within a matter of seconds with the Whispersync technology and each time you turn on your wireless or 3G, updates will be installed.
Not sure whether you want to buy a book because you are not sure if you would like it? Now you can sample the first chapter of books with free downloads and then decide whether you want to buy or not. All books you buy online are archived at the Kindle library at Amazon so at any time you can re-download them to your Kindle wirelessly.
There are a lot more features too numerous to mention with the Kindle Readers and now that I am proud owner of one, I wish that I hadn't waited so long to get one.
