Portable pdf readers have become very popular. You now have the ability to carry thousands of books around without feeling any significant amount of weight. The portable PDF reader gives you the freedom of having thousands of books at your finger tips.

What Portable PDF Readers Are Available?

To date there are about 15 ebook readers but I am only going to feature the top ten here. Many companies have jump on the band wagon in hopes of making a killing in the hot market. A few companies include Sharper Image have come out with their own version of the popular portable PDF reader.

These models are not expensive and most of them do the same thing. On the other hand, some will run you into the $300 price range. Yikes!! Each company seems to be trying to outdo each other with high tech and enhance features. Stuff like color screen and wifi technology have become part of the portable PDF reader industry.

While the Amazon Kindle is still the favorite, the Nook Color by Barnes and Noble is something to consider. The Sony Reader Touch Edition however seems to be in a stalled model. With that said, here are the big players in the portable PDF reader market.

1. Amazon Kindle 3 2. Amazon Kindle DX 3. Nook by Barns and Noble 4. Nook Color by Barns and Noble 5. Kobo Ebook Reader 6. B Book Neo by Endless Ideas 7. Sony Reader Touch Edition 8. Alex E Reader by Spring Design 9. Sony Reader Daily Edition 10. Pandigital Novel by Pandigital.

As you can see the list is large. I can bet you Google will soon jump in on this. In case you haven’t notice they have a computer out that runs their internet application called Google Chrome. The computer is called Chromebook! Right now there are two companies that are manufacturing these computers. Samsung is one and Acer is the other.

What to look for When Choosing a Portable PDF reader?

Keep a close eye on weight. Also, pay special attention on the battery life of the device and how many hours of read time you will have. Theses ebook readers are also thin. I think the Kindle is the thinnest and most popular of the bunch.

Another thing to look at is if you’ll be able to use the device in the sun. As you know, the computer is awful in direct sunlight. But, not so with the portable pdf reader. Most of them comes with a no glear technology. This is pretty sweet and will allow you to read your portable ebook reader on the beach. There is one more feature that compliments a ebook reader and that is the wifi connections. As you know, most device these days are using wifi. A portable PDF reader that makes this feature standard is not only offering something for today’s technology but also giving the owner the ability to connect to the internet where ever they may go without using a plug.

Which Portable Pdf Reader is King?

The Kindle from Amazon rains supreme in this arena. Even though the other players are adding bells and whistle to get people interested, the Kindle 3 and Kindle3GWifi out performs them.

With its 6200+ customer reviews no wonder it is the top performer on the market and this is just for the kindle 3G model.

The Nook and Nook Color by Barnes and Noble is also a top contender with a lot of customer reviews as well. With its starting at just $139 dollars, still higher than the Kindle 1 which starts at $114, the Nook is still a strong performer on value.
