Sell Books Online – How?

To make some additional cash, you can sell books online.  But to strike a good deal and get a good price you should know the appropriate time, the right website and target the correct audience. Apart from that do some research and know what types of book sell and what doesn’t.

Listed below are some pointers.

Before you list your books, you should visit a couple of online retailer site and see what types of books are making big sales.  This will give you an indication which books you should list and when. This will help you save your time and give a clue where to float these books. Doing some ground work initially will save a lot of time and help you to maximize on your sales.

Decide the Location

If you like to auction off books, then ebay is a good site. Here you can sell your books to the highest bidder. Ebay also has a separate section for antiques book. Selling antique books can fetch you a higher price.

Another site where you can sell your books are Bookfinder andAbebooks. These two sites are specially meant for booksellers. Many book dealers make use of both these sites.

What some book dealers do is they procure books from one site at a lower price, and then sell them at a premium at another site. But you should know which books would give you that higher price before you venture out for this type of task.

Observe the market and you would know what would the ideal time to sell your books. Holiday season just before Christmas is the perfect setting. This is the time most of the people shop for Christmas. And if you run out of ideas what to gift away as Christmas gift, what better gift than a book.

In fact, a study has revealed that books are the most preferred product sold on the internet. But in general, holidays are the best time to sell your books.

Buyers would be keen to know what they are buying. So think over what you write as this will be the window to make your sale.

They would like to know the condition of the book. Don’t hide anything. If any page is torn or there are writings do mention it.

Include the title, author, date, edition and publisher. If you have a first edition, do mention so. There are many readers who shop only to lay their hands on the first edition. Also, the first edition fetches a better price. If you can upload a clear photo of your books (each book separately), the buyer will know what to expect.  This could bring you closer to making the sale.

Best sellers don’t give you much return, but nothing like selling first edition in good condition online.  Better still, if your books have dust jackets you can expect much better price.
