Say you’re at the pool, reading your Kindle, relaxing in the nice warm sun, when three teenage boys bomb dive three centimeters from the nearest edge, and what was once a warm clean towel is a sodden mass of cloth. You shriek at them for a few minutes until they look properly ashamed, and turn around to discover that your Kindle is now in even worse condition than your towel! Or you’re enjoying a leisurely bath with your Kindle (yes, people still do it no matter what the instructions say) and you slip while shifting your position, and when you awaken from being electrocuted within an inch of your life, you catch sight of your Kindle, and wish you hadn’t. Or it falls out of your pocket straight in to the deepest puddle this side of the equator, or, or!
Well some bright spark has thought of a way to combat this problem (bless you, sir, bless you) and created what we now know as the Waterproof Kindle Case.
This is basically a little folder that you place your Kindle in, with a transparent front. You select the book you wish to read, place your Kindle in the bag (make sure its not the wrong way around), close the zip and lock, and commence your waterproof reading. Of course as whith any product there are some disadvantages too. I will make a little list of all the common ones, so you can get an idea of how it weighs up.
Pros
- Case is waterproof (unless you take it to the bottom of the pool and leave it there, no guarantees then).
- Easy to use. You just open the flap, pop in your Kindle and close the top. No fuss.
- Most buttons are accessible through the cover.
- Comes with a strap to go around your neck, it’s a lot harder to drop, although I’m sure someone will manage.
.Cons
- Kindle needs to be switched on before its placed into the case.
- According to some, the neck strap is geeky.
- Slight glare from the plastic cover at some angles
So while this case isn’t bulletproof or sand proof, it will keep your Kindle dry when your reading near the water. Some people recommend using the Polycarbonate Hard Shell case with the Waterproof Case as double protection, for either sand at the beach or if you drop it when its wet. The Waterproof Kindle Case is just what it says on the tin folks. If you have found this product useful or not, or you have some insights into the world of Kindle covers and cases, be sure to leave a comment to let other people know.
