Gelukskunde is een wetenschap. Er zijn professoren in de gelukskunde. Steeds meer middelbare scholen geven het vak ‘Gelukskunde’. In Bhutan, een boeddistisch rijk in het Himalayagebergte, heeft men in plaats van het Bruto Nationaal Product (BNP) het Bruto Nationaal Geluk ingevoerd, waarin behalve economische factoren o.a. ook geluk centraal staat. Men weigert geld te verdienen aan commerciële ondernemingen die de gezondheid van mensen en de schoonheid van de omgeving bedreigen.

Geheugentechnieken

Uw geheugen is bepalend voor succes en vreugde. Bovendien heeft uw geheugen een directe betrokkenheid bij het oplossen van problemen, bij creativiteit en bij elk proces dat verbeeldingskracht vereist. Het is mogelijk uw geheugen te verbeteren door te weten hoe het werkt en geheugentechnieken toe te passen. Deze technieken zijn ook toepasbaar voor het onthouden van namen en andere zaken.

Mind mapping

Mind mapping is een simpele en praktische techniek om meer delen van de hersenen te activeren waardoor u sneller leert en beter kan onthouden. Deze techniek is onder meer geschikt om complexe informatie te structureren, gedachten te ordenen, projecten, werkstukken en presentaties voor te bereiden en uw creativiteit te vergroten.

Het onderzoek naar geluk heeft vooral een vlucht genomen na de paradox van Easterlin. De Amerikaanse econoom Robert Easterlin kwam er tot zijn eigen ontzetting achter dat het Amerikaanse doorsnee inkomen in de periode 1946 tot 1974 meer dan verdubbeld was maar dat mensen niet gelukkiger waren.

Inmiddels is gebleken dat geluk voor ca 50% genetisch is bepaald en dat het maar voor ca. 10% afhankelijk is van omstandigheden zoals of we rijk zijn of arm (nabasisvoorzieningen), gezond of ongezond, mooi of lelijk, getrouwd of vrijgezel,enzovoort.Van belang is dat wetenschappers hebben aangetoond dat ca 40% veranderbaar is door bewust gedrag en gedachten. Ook is bekend welke factoren veranderbaar zijn en kunnen bijdragen aan ons geluk.
