What to Look for When Searching for Bed Bugs

Are you itching during the night? Are you waking up to feeling something crawl over your skin? Are strange little bite marks appearing on your skin when you wake up in the morning? Are they itchy and red. You may have already been told by your doctor or someone that you may have bed bugs. It's a horrible thought but to be sure your going to have to find them. And for me bed bugs are the undisputed champion when it comes to hide and seek. They can fit into the smallest cracks in walls, bedding and even plug hole sockets. So what to look for when searching for bed bugs. What are the signs that you might have an infestation of these little blood suckers. I am going to tell you what to look for when searching for bed bugs.

What to look for when searching for bed bugs

First things first you want to check the bed sheets. So take of your duvet and give the sheet a good examination. What we are looking for are blood spots. Blood spots are where you have been bitten by a bed bug and your blood has gone onto your bed sheets. Another reason you could have a blood spot on your sheet is because you may have squished a bed bug yuck! Gross i know. Finding blood spots shouldn't be to hard at all. They come in all shapes and sizes and I have seen some pretty big ones in my time. If they are still red then it's an indication you have been bitten very recently. If it's brown then its been there for a while. Blood spots are just a small indication that you may have bed bugs.

Look through the whole bed frame including planks that hold the bed together

This is probably the most important part of what to look for when searching for bed bugs. You want to take the mattress off the bed an dismantle it taking of the planks. This is where bed bugs love to hide. What we are looking for here is little black dots. These little black spots are blood specks, Or in other words bed bug poo. The first place I would like is where you have screwed in a bolts to hold the bed together. I would, what I will do to show you what I mean is to add a picture to this article. This is one of the main places bed bugs love to hide. If you do find any blood specks then this is a very clear indication that you have bed bugs living in your bed.

If you do find bed bugs, it's important not to panic and make a rash decision. Don't go throwing you bed away just yet because there is a way to get rid of them
