Are you looking for a home made flea remedy? I will share 4 home made flea remedies that you can use to get rid of fleas in your environment.
Home made flea spray remedies are not very difficult to make and will work on your pets, furniture and floors. You will need the following:
1 gallon of vinegar (white or cider)
16 oz of lemon juice
8 oz of witch hazel
1/2 gallon of water
Empty spray bottle to put the flea spray into
Take all of these ingredients except for the empty spray bottle and mix them together, then pour them into the spray bottle.
To use the spray on your pets, take a flea comb, or any fine tooth comb, as you spray the mix on their fur, comb it so that it reaches the skin of your pet. Continue doing this until their entire coat has been sprayed, avoid spraying directly on your pets face, the lemon juice might sting their eyes. To get on your pets head, spray on your hand and rub onto their faces.
To use the spray on furniture, you might want to test an area with the spray and make sure the lemon juice doesn't cause the color to change. Spray a mist over all of your furniture, if you have removable cushions, lift them out and make sure to spray both sides of them. Get all of the corners, sides and any pillows that are on your furniture. Fleas and all of their life stages can hide in the smallest little spot, so be thorough!
You can use the home made flea spray on your hardwood floors and tile floors as well. You can either pour it right on your floors or use your spray bottle to mist it and then use your mop to spread it around all the areas of your floors.
To use the flea spray on your carpets, do a test spot to make sure it doesn't change the color of your carpet. Then you just need to mist it on your carpets, letting it dry for about 10 min, then run your vacuum over your carpets. This will push the flea spray down into your carpets.
Home made flea remedy shampoo to use on your pets. You will need the following ingredients:
1/2 Cup of vinegar (white or cider)
1/2 Cup of Palmolive free & clear dish soap
1 Cup of warm water
Empty squirt bottle to put the mixture in so you can apply it easily to your pets during a bath
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl or pot, don't shake it or you'll have a bunch of bubbles! Pour the mixture into the squirt bottle. Use this in place of store bought flea shampoo to give your pet a flea bath.
Blue Dawn dish soap is also a single ingredient you can use alone. That would be all you will need if you don't have the other ingredients above to make the flea shampoo. Just use this in place of flea shampoo when giving your pets a flea bath.
Home made flea remedy for carpets: For this all you need is table salt and baking soda. You can just use the table salt alone if you don't have baking soda on hand. Sprinkle the table salt on your carpet, a thin layer, making sure it goes under furniture as well. If you have baking soda you can sprinkle that over the salt, lightly not a thick layer.
Now use a broom to go over the salt and baking soda, pushing them right down into the carpet, you want it as far into the fibers as you can get it. Let it sit on your carpet for 24-48 hours, then vacuum your carpets thoroughly. Be sure to throw the vacuum bag out when your done or washing out the canister of a bag less vacuum.
