Dogs And Fashion

There was a time when you would never have seen the words "dog" and "fashion" side by side, but times have changed. There are various categories of dogs including working dogs, hunting dogs, guard dogs, companion dogs, lap dogs and fancy dogs. Along with fancy dogs, comes dog fashion and fancy dogs are looking better and better these days.

FANCY DOG BREEDS

There are several breeds of dogs that are listed as fancy breeds, along with some designer breeds, which are a cross between two purebred breeds. These designer dogs have some interesting names:

Yorkipoo - A cross between a Yorkie and a Poodle.

Bugg - A blend of a Boston Terrier and a Pug.

Pom-A-Poo - A cross between a Pomeranian and a Poodle.

Cock-A-Poo - A cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle.

Puggle - A mix of a Pug and a Beagle.

Most, but not all designer or fancy breeds are medium to small dogs, though there are some larger mixes. Common among both the Hollywood set, and the common folk are small purse sized dogs that can be carried anywhere, and these are often accessorized in luxury clothing as well.

DOGS LUXURY CLOTHES AND ACCESSORIES

There is a plethora of websites and doggy boutiques that sell luxury clothing for dogs, in such categories as costumes, sweaters, pajama s robes, sporting accessories, and t-shirts. Dog clothing is big business and is another way for dog owner's to express their love for their furry friends. There is even dog couture, making use of such materials as cashmere, taffeta, organza, sequins, rhinestones and diamonds.

Along with clothing comes accessories and such luxurious items as: hair bows, crystal, diamond and rhinestone collars and leashes, and pillows and blankets made from the softest materials imaginable. Today's designer dog owner is all about spending money to outfit their dog with the best, the softest, the fanciest, and the flashiest. You can buy a pair of Swarovski studded sunglasses, designer shoes, or even a doggy bikini if you re heading to the beach or pool.

Today's dog fashions are all about style, made to appease the dog owner more than the dog. Let's face it, does Fido really care if he's wearing a zebra print collar? Can Fifi tell the difference between rhinestones and diamonds? No. But because luxury clothing and accessories for dogs is a multi-million dollar a year industry someone can tell the difference, and they care enough to buy the very best.
