Step 1:
How to get rid of fleas naturally on your pets: Water is a natural flea killer, mixed with a home-made flea shampoo, you can get a large amount of the adult fleas off of your pets and out of your house. To make a home-made flea shampoo follow the recipe below:
1/2 Cup of vinegar (white or cider)
1/2 Cup of Palmolive free & clear dish soap
1 Cup of warm water
Empty dish soap bottle with squirt top (you need the squirt top to apply shampoo to your pet)
Mix all the ingredients together, gently, you don't want to shake to mix it, this will cause the soap to become to sudsy.
Put your pet into the bathtub filled with enough water to have them completely covered in the water, except for your pets head.
Put the natural flea shampoo in a straight line down your pets back. Rub the shampoo into your pets coat, making a very thick lather on their entire body. Make sure that you're rubbing the soap into the neck, chest, belly and legs of your pets coat. Massage the shampoo right down to your pets skin. Keep doing this for about 10 minutes. If you see fleas coming out around your pets face, use your wet hand to push them back down to the water.
Next, rinse the shampoo off of your pet, you're going to be seeing the fleas falling into the water and drowning. After the shampoo is rinsed, continue pouring the water over your pets entire body for another 10 minutes. You want to continue doing this because you're killing more of the fleas with the water.
You can take your pet out of the water and towel dry them as best you can. Now fill a bowl of water, deep enough to dip a flea comb into, you need to put a couple squirts of the home-made flea shampoo into the bowl of water, you don't need to mix it.
Take the flea comb and starting at the base of your pets neck, right behind the ears, you need to do a full comb stroke right to the tail. Rinse the comb, continue doing this until your pets coat has been completely combed.
Step 2

If your pet has a bed of their own, you will need to wash this as well. Dry all of the items on the highest heat setting in your dryer to effectively kill all of the fleas and their stages. If something that your pets been on is not washable, you will need to using the following home-made flea remedy and spray it on these areas.
1 gallon of vinegar (white or cider)
16 oz of lemon juice (store brands are just fine)
8oz of witch hazel
1/2 gallon of water

Mix all of these ingredients together in an empty spray bottle. Use this flea spray on your furniture, carpets, pet beds and anywhere you can't throw into the washer machine. Do not wash any of the spray mixture after applying. You want the spray to set on these items and completely dry on the fabrics to effectively kill the fleas and all of their life stages.

Step 3:
How to get rid of fleas naturally outside your home: This is just as important as getting the fleas off of your pets and out of your home. The fleas got into your home from the outside, so this is crucial in your battle against the fleas.
You need to clean any debris, (leaf piles, wood piles, standing water), in your yard. These are all excellent breeding grounds for fleas. Make sure that you pay special attention to shaded areas, under bushes, trees, porches and decks. Your grass should be cut to no less than 1/2 inch high.
Next you will need a natural flea killer. There are a couple great choices for you, the first being food grade Diatomaceous Earth. This is actually the decomposed shell remains of microscopic single-celled algae which is found in the bottoms of our water sources, lakes, rivers, oceans and seas.
Although food grade diatomaceous earth is feels like a soft powder like substance to the human hand, it's deadly to the flea and all of it's life cycles. The shell particles that are blind to the human eye are deadly to the fleas because it is sharp particles to their little bodies. This cause them to get cut by the DE and the powder dehydrates them causing them to die. The food grade DE also sucks the moisture out of the fleas egg, larvae and pupa stages, causing them to die.
You simply sprinkle the food grade diatomaceous earth liberally around your yard. Be sure to focus on shady moist areas, along with areas that your pets spend a lot of time around outside. If it rains, you will need to reapply. The DE is also very effective for use inside your home, just sprinkle around your home on carpets, let sit for at least 24 hours, them vacuum. Reapply as needed.
Fleas have natural predators that a lot of times are killed off because of chemicals used for weed control and insect control in our yards. Frogs, toads, beetles and spiders are all natural predators of the flea. Beneficial Nematodes are also natural flea predators and these can be purchased and introduced into your outside environment.
Beneficial Nematodes are used by organic farmers to control the pests from destroying their crops. They live underground and actually poison the fleas along with other unwanted pests in our yards, grubs and ants just to name a few. The beneficial nematodes should be introduced into your outside environment in the very early spring, before the flea eggs have an opportunity to hatch. The hatching of the fleas will usually occur when the outdoor temperatures stay above 65-70 degrees overnight.
I hope you found, how to get rid of fleas naturally in 3 easy steps, useful in your fight against fleas.
